Not getting about 98% of the channels...several have a display that they "are not broadcasting" at this time. Seriously?

We have 2 tv's hooked up with Cox, and have had that problem with one of them for years. First started a couple of years ago and we had someone come out. It worked again for a few months and then started doing it again on certain channels, never on all of them. Since then we've had 2 more guys come out and "fix" it, but it always starts again after a month or two.

You can call the help number and they can send a "corrective signal" or something and that will fix it for a bit, or even just unplugging and re-plugging the cable box will reset it and fix it for a while. It's odd all the problems we've had are with the same tv and the other one has always been fine.

It's really got me thinking of switching to Verizon, but other than this problem, I really like Cox.

I was a Cox Cable customer for 17 years I hate change but after time & time of the techs just switching the outside switch or cables or any excuse to say all is good & you have a great signal and constant tiling over the years I said no more BS had to give Verizon a try. Well I did and will never go back to Cox Fios is cheaper & the screen is so clear it looks live without HD. My friend make the switch you will be happy again I did. PS >> I am a old Fart that is so cheap it squeakes when i walk and Verizon is cheaper then Cox... Amen

Went for FIOS and will never go back. Internet is top notch as well I can't recommend it enough. Hasn't gone out once at my house or my parent's house.

Look into a ROKU or similar....

I pay 7.99 (Netflix) a month + internet costs and I am very happy..
I can also stream things directly from any computer or android device I have on my network to any TV I want.

Not only has Cox never been able to equalize their audio levels across channels, dating back to when they were Media General, but their Internet service is subject to suspiciously regular unannounced outages one or more times a week around midnight or 1AM. It's ridiculous. It got so that I could almost set my watch by when their Internet service would crap out.

Notice on the "status page"? Nope. Ever a comment about their lack of availability? Nope.

Verizon has its faults, but at least their people know what a maintenance window is.

My Cox internet in Omaha, NE goes down very often at 1am. Hoses my streams of data. If it keeps up, I'm changing to Centurylink.

I've used cox for 20+ years, and am so tired of teh rate increases

Every year my "promotion" expires and my bill almost doubles

This month it went from $120 to $205 for cable, internet & phone -

$205 a month to watch tv and check my friggin email

And, like every year past, I call them, sit on the phone for 45 minutes being passed around until someone decides to be nice and give me another "promotion" bringing the bill down to something more reasonable.

Every year I have to jump through these stupid hoops, every year I have to threaten to move to Verizon, and every year they mark down the rates to something I can live with.

Why do they do this? What a royal pain in the ass. (I mean, I know why, because a lot of people don't call and spend the time to get a better rate, and those people are paying twice the average rate = $$$ for Cox) but it sure would be nice if I didn't have to fight companies all the time to get a decent deal.

Sirius XM is the same way, came with the car and if I want to keep it without paying an outragoues yearly fee I have to call each year to say I want to cancel it, and then they lower the fees to the original, reasonable amount.

How many people out there are paying too much because they don't know to call and complain?

(and check those bills, they add extras all the time by "mistake" that will be taken off if you call.)

ugh.

Who fucking watches tv anymore. It's like who the fuck has a landline anymore?

Here is my breakdown on $$$$$:

Cox Below Basic(just the basic channels + some extras) $35
Cox Internet Preferred $53
$88 + taxes +fees = $94.37 a month

Netflix = $8
Cell phone per month = $32(just basic services)

$135 per month.
