"On-Crack Journalism" at its very finest.

Is it racist to say that the author's name put it into perspective?

Police Shooting: Internal Affairs Investigating, Questioning Witnesses
Franconia District commander Captain Jim Baumstark said the case will go to court.
http://kingstowne.patch.com/articles/police-shooting-internal-affairs-investigating-questioning-witnesses

At Wednesday's CAC meeting, Captain Jim Baumstark — commander of the Franconia District Police Station — told residents that detectives with the Internal Affairs Bureau are questioning witnesses and investigating the police-involved shooting that occurred around 4 p.m. April 9 on Thurlton Drive in Kingstowne.

Baumstark said the 37-year-old man who was shot by police is still alive, and he thinks that is due to one of the officers who responded to the possible suicide report performing CPR on the suspect. Officers involved in the shooting were placed on routine administrative leave as the police department and IAB continue to investigate the incident.

"It seems police officers did everything they were supposed to do, and he [the suspect] did everything he wasn't supposed to do," Baumstark said.

At the meeting, Baumstark said he is still unsure of who made the call reporting the possible suicide threat, but the police do believe the man is of some relation to residents of the area.

Baumstark informed residents Wednesday that the case will go to court in the future.

UPDATE

Maxwell Scott Eisenman, 37, has been charged with assault on a police officer following the investigation stemming from an officer involved shooting that occurred on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Eisenman, an Alexandria-area resident, remains hospitalized in stable condition. He was served with a warrant on April 30, 2013, and was remanded to the custody of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation revealed that Eisenman used what was later identified as a replica of a semi-automatic handgun in a threatening manner toward officers.

Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Raymond F. Morrogh has informed Lieutenant Colonel Edwin C. Roessler Jr., acting Chief of the Fairfax County Police Department that no basis for criminal liability exists on the part of the three involved officers.

The three officers who discharged their weapons were PFC Shannon Sams, PFC Robert Marshall and PFC Eric Runkles. All will return to full patrol duties and responsibilities at the Franconia District Police Station.

Small world. My brother went to elementary school (Pine Ridge) with a Max Eisenman as a kid about 30 or so years ago. His last name was pronounced like it rhymed with "Theismann," notwithstanding the "en" in the middle. Almost certainly the same guy based on the name and age.

I can't believe this! The police get away with shooting a man and sending him to the hospital and now he's charged with assaulting a police officer! Code Blue is alive and well in Fairfax County!

Neil, get a life. There are plenty of other wrongs committed by cops out there. This isn't one of them. You point anything looking like a gun, especially a "replica" of one and you get what this guy got. Good on the pd for this one.
