Driver identified after child struck in Yorkshire

Police have found the driver who struck a 5-year-old boy in Yorkshire on Tuesday.
Police were called to the 8200 block of Rainwater Circle in the Yorkshire area at 6:43 p.m. to investigate the hit-and-run.
The boy’s mother had just taken him out of her car when he saw another family member across the road and ran into the street, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
The van struck the boy and left the area. Police on Wednesday identified the driver as a 70-year-old Manassas Park man.
"Investigators learned that due to several factors, the driver of the vehicle was unaware that he had struck the child," Perok said in a news release. "The vehicle’s size, the child’s size, time of day, and what the child was wearing at the time of the crash were considered. After consultation with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, charges will not be placed in this crash."
The boy was flown by helicopter to a trauma center, but has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.
The van was a white Ford E350 series commercial style van with a sliding door on the passenger side, a dent on the front left bumper and a ladder rack on top, Perok said.
Anyone with information on the driver is asked to call police at 703-792-6500.

The brat deserved to be run over and the mother should have been arrested.
