Uranium mining proponents are waging a battle to repeal Virginia's 30-year ban on uranium mining. HOT WATER, which explores the contamination of the ground water, air, and soil of the American Southwest with some of the most toxic substances known to man due to the mining of uranium, is a harrowing preview of what could be in store for Virginia if the ban is lifted. With the water supply of roughly 1.2 million people at stake, filmmakers Lizabeth Rogers and Kevin Flint traveled to Virginia to film the fight of citizens to defend their homes for a special extended version of the film.

WHEN: Thurs., November 14, 2013, 7:00 pm

WHERE: Cinema Arts Theatre, 9650 Main St., Fairfax, VA 22031

Come out at 6:30 pm before the screening to see producer Lizabeth Rogers and the Virginia "stars" of the film walk the red carpet and host a press conference to discuss the implications of uranium mining in Virginia.

RSVP below today! There is no ticket price, but a $5 contribution to help continue our crucial work to protect the ban is suggested.

Um... before you jump on the bandwagon, please realize the issue is nuanced and cannot be boiled down to "good" or "bad". Yes, there are hazards involved in the process of uranium mining. There are also economic opportunities. Both must be considered in any decision regarding the existing ban on mining. I'm not necessarily advocating for drilling, but I think it is irresponsible to simply start shouting "NO!" or "NIMBY!" if you don't really appreciate or understand the issue from a larger perspective.
