I dont live in a new apartment, but it is a new condo and I paid my student loans within the first year of being out of school, no car payments, live within my means and quite happy. I am also a moderate progressive.

I don't see what everyone's fighting for. Just look at the news! There's your proof. The next day after the election, all these companies are laying more people off. Thousands of them. What's changed? A fiscal cliff is happening as of Jan. 1. if our wonderful politicians don't do something about it. Our foreign policy sucks. Who cares who's president. It's not going to hurt them. They have money. All they care about is getting elected and all of you guys believe it. Ask yourself a question, you think Obama cared more about getting elected or the American people???? Same guy that watched 4 people die in Benghazi???

Most of these large numbers are defense related jobs. You finally end the useless wars we should have never escalated and this will cut the defense contracts. I am totally ok with that. I am sure if the Republicans were in office they would have started a new war just to keep all these people employed. I would rather have or soldiers home safe then keep some jobs.

I agree with your opinion about Faux Noise, but (presumbly) she is right about the layoffs. Of course, our intrepid reporting staff at Faux probably failed to mention "the rest of the story".
Robert Murray, CEO of Murray Energy (apparently the largest privately held Coal Mining company in the country) announced layoffs after reading a prayer critical of Obama and his "War on Coal". But the truth is this is just showmanship. Coal is in decline in this country. Natural gas is much cheaper, in great abundance, and significantly more "environmentally friendly". Utilities are replacing their Coal fired plants with Natural gas. His businesses are going under because of the market forces he so strongly praises.
Papa John's Pizza CEO John Schnatter (what's up with the pizza business?) has stated that he will both pass all the costs associated Obamacare on to his customers (he estimates a rise of 15% in pie price) AND reduce his employees hours because employees who work less than 30 hours a week do not need to be covered by health insurance. Yet somehow he manages to scrounge together $20 million to be the official pizza of the NFL.
Darden Restaurants, owner of such Haute cuisine establishments as Red Lobster and Olive Garden, also announced a reduction in their employees hours to avoid the requirements of Obamacare. Of course, this seems like an empty threat in a business where everyone is already part-time and the only full time employees are the managers, who work 80+ hours a week.
Looks like a good time to start or invest in a good local restaurant, one that runs well because its employees are treated like the full time long term workers they are. Let the Red Lobster across the street struggle to find workers who will show up straight, sober, and willing to work the 4:30pm Early Bird Special.
