$3.90+ gas, traffic congestion, near EMPTY school buses, 100's and 100's of teen drivers! THIS is CRAZY!! What is wrong with you parents!! Put your 16 and 17 year olds on the damn buses, have them WALK to school, give them a BIKE....whatever, but keep the car at home! Help alleviate some of the traffic problems. PLUS, they are just too young to be driving!!

I rode a bus once. There were poor people on it. I was horrified.

For fun, I took my young son into the city on a Saturday last spring so we could go to a baseball game.

Instead of driving, I figured we would try Metro. Fuck that shit! Never again.

1. Construction on the Orange line meant we had to get off the train, wait in line and then take a bus to the next station. That took an extra 40 minutes.

2. On the return, massive crowds poured out of the ballpark. Metro was overwhelmed and we waited 25 minutes just to reach the platform, another 10 until the train showed up.

3. Fucking drunk threw up on the train. Everyone backed away, jamming the crowded train even worse. Smell was nasty!

I'm guessing Ridethebus doesn't use public transportation.

No he's not or he wouldn't claim fcps buses are NEAR empty.

I have three runs every day and my LIGHTEST load is in the low 50's. One run was so crowded (over 80) that they had to take a stop off of it.

There are some mid-day academy shuttles that are lightly loaded, but that is the exception, not the rule.

Metro is overpriced. Gee, for the same price I can drive my fuel efficient Nissan, sit in comfy leather (heated in the winter), listen to music of my choosing and drink coffee.

Agreed. Going into DC from Vienna at close to $6 each way plus parking, you got the best choice.

Can someon explain why the gas prices keep on rising?

The fxpd is on an illegal, constant, ongoing union strike, and the first thing they chose to stop doing is write traffic ticketsin which progress into losing your license to drive for the morons that do not know how to or simply refuse to drive safely.
Tailgating, or 'following too closely' is the most popular infraction and one of the most dangerous, reckless one at that.
If the fxpd traffic cops would simply get their rotten bad
, lazy good for nothing heads out of their abuses and DO THEIR JOB, not only would over half the morons on the road be gone back to walking/biking/riding the bus, the massive revenue taken in from the proper and appropriate issuing of traffic tickets would also be so massive, a pay raise for the police force personnel would be eminent.
Of course, this makes too much sense and would never happen.
It would require the over all removal of everyone at the fxpd and beyond's heads to be removed from their smile amuses!
