Fairfax High and Lanier Middle Overcrowding

Fairfax County Public Schools hosted a work session yesterday on the topic of overcrowding at Fairfax City owned Fairfax High and Lanier Middle schools. Anyone attend and have thoughts on the meeting content? A quick look at the map shows only places with room are Robinson, Lake Braddock and Frost/Woodson, but I am guessing most of the overcrowding is caused by Willow Springs, Eagle View and Greenbriar attendance area growth (far west of Woodson/Frost and Lake Braddock). How long will Fairfax City endure sardine-like hallways with 65% of the students at Fairfax High from outside of the city? Quite a challenge ahead for FCPS to resolve this one.

The status quo will not under any circumstances acknowledge that
the problem is due to an influx of illegal immigrants, mostly from
Prince William County. Sharon Bulova is out to lunch and always

If the City of Fairfax is genuinely concerned about overcrowding in Fairfax High and Sidney Lanier, the solution is for the city to abrogate its agreement with the Fairfax County Public Schools system to provide educational services for the city's public schools and take over the responsibility themselves.
Fairfax City has its own school board and its own superintendent, Peter Noonan. The city pays $37 million to FCPS- $12,200 per student - to run the city's schools.

The surrounding county schools are going to be hard pressed to find space for over 2,500 students in the areas surrounding Fairfax City if Fairfax and Lanier are solely used to educate city students. The reason for the boundary study is to re-distribute SOME but not ALL of the county students attending Lanier and Fairfax to other surrounding middle/high schools.

Why not address the real problem and deal with illegal immigrants the way Prince William County has done? Maybe they'll all move to Arlington or DC. Better yet,

Because if they did their maids, lawn maintenance workers, daycare providers, food service workers and many of those other workers on whom Fairfax residents depend for their day to day comfort and convenience would be gone.

To expand on Bill.N.'s response: because the dirty little secret of living well is paying someone else as little as you possibly fucking can to do the shit work you don't want to do. You could hire legal residents to work as maids, lawn maintenance workers, daycare providers, food service workers, and so on, but you'd have to pay them a higher wage than you can get away with when you hire someone who's willing to work for the minimum or a sub-minimum wage.
As an example, you can hire 5 legitimate helpers on a jobsite for 15 dollars an hour, or hire 5 guys whose papers you don't want to look too closely for 10 bucks an hour.
That leaves an extra 200 bucks, 100 of which you pocket and 100 of which allows you to underbid the guy who foolishly and stupidly hires only people who are legally able to work. You live well, because you're getting all the contracts, and the guy who obeys the law scratches and scrapes.

If the men of Fairfax would take a stand and make their lazy ass wives do the housework and the kids cut grass the problem of illegals would be solved.
