How much is Maggiano's dinner for two?

I'm a high schooler that won a $50 Maggiano's gift card in a contest. I want to take my mom out for her birthday but I heard this place is fancy and expensive.
Will $50 cover the cost of two meals and dessert and tip? If not, how much more should I plan to have with me?

First, you typically cannot tip using a gift card, but you should be pretty close to the cost of a meal for two people. The entree portions at Maggiano's are large enough for two people to share and most are in the $14-17 range. If you each get a salad and split a tiramisu you should be around $40 which leaves enough for your mother to have a glass of wine and an iced tea for you with the rest to cover tax. Tip should be in the $8-10 range.

$50 is usually enough to buy a dinner for two at most places, without alchohol.
10 years ago it used to be $40. I think back in the 80's $25 would cover it...now i'm just dating myself.

Why would tip be more than 20%?
If dinner was $40 before taxes tip would be
bad service 10% = $4
ok service 15% = $6
Exceptional service 20% = $8
If it is a cash giftcard then you use it like cash and can pay tip with it.

Perhaps I have lucked out, but the few times I have used a gift card I didn't have any trouble paying tip out of it. It has been a while though.
