Collapsable Batons

New to FFX county and was wondering if collapsable batons are legal to carry? Some batons are automatic which come out with a push of a button but mine is not spring loaded or automatic. It requires me to "flick" the wrist in order for the baton to extend. Is this legal?

Rhegistered Vhoter twirls batons in parades and no one gives him grief. Does that count?

Why would you need a collapsable baton? Expecting a fight? That will only maim your opponent, who will then sue you into the poorhouse. You need to go for concealed carry or open carry and avoid being hassled at all.

Jaybee,

I'm not expecting a fight. I do carry a concealed firearm with me at all times but I would rather use that type of force as a last resort. I just figured I would have a better chance in court if the attacker wasnt dead.

i have one, got it at the expo center gun show a long time ago for $20 just for the hell of it. but you cant carry it concealed. i guess you could have it in its holster thing on your belt no problem. and that would probably get you a lot less stares than open carrying a handgun.

A 16 inch stick isn't likley to help you much. You have to be very close to somebody to strike, and by then, it's probably too late. Get some mace / pepper spray that can strike from yards away.

And btw, I cc as well.

kind of expensive. and apparently when you shoot it it sprays out a bunch of tiny id tags so the police can track the owner if its used in a crime.

I carry a lil pocket knife and some razor blades hidden in my sneakers just incase. You really don't need to go through all the hustle of getting a gun, taser, or a baton just so you can defend yourself. Guns are cheap, legal and very effective.

I have carried an ASP collapsible baton for many many years. I usually just keep it behind my truck's bench seat.

Ff the times I have been pulled over, the officer will usually ask why I have one. I tell them for self defense and show them my training card (cert) I took several years ago sponsored by ASP ( the manufacturer of the baton) and my conceal weapon permit. I have never had one give me a hard time, beyond just asking questions and the occasional smart-ass comment.

It is a great tool. One suggestion is to get the lanyard attachment that screws on the base,.. these batons can get taken away pretty easy in a fight.

i think a stun gun would be most prudent if you looking to avoid liability. it doesnt leave any injuries and you can hit people from a distance.

we sure know the police love them.

I have a basball in my trunk. If I get pulled over with it I just tell the them I am going to a game. It's great for hurting people and it's not considered a weopon.

It depends upon what kind of person that you are however, I know a guy who used to carry nothing more than a rolled up paper in NYC in the 70's, and 80's, and it was all that he needed.

Have one and "HAD" one. Was not concealed but was taken away from me during a traffic stop for improper lane change. Also tried to get me for a assisted opening pocket knife in a tool bag. the baton was in the door pocket of the driver door. FCPD told me they were illegal and I have no buisness to carry such an item. I asked them to see it in writing and they gave me a business card and was told to have a nice day.

Usually when you flick the baton and the shafts extend, The purpose is clear and people get the point it catches alot of people off guard. However-A tire iron usually sends the same message when introduced to the party.....
