Sully Police District – Police are hosting a community forum on the dangers and threats of financial crimes in the Korean community on Saturday, April 21 at the Korean Presbyterian Church, 15451 Lee Highway, Centreville, 2012 from 7 – 9 p.m.
Precise statistics of crimes against ethnicities are not available but detectives stress that many crimes go unreported as some victims are hesitant to contact police.
Awareness and education are keys to helping protect people from becoming victimized. Recently, an Annandale businessman lost over $14,000. as the checks being written for services rendered turned out to be bogus.
Business agreements, financial scams, and visa fraud are just a few of the topics that will be covered at the financial crimes forum.
