FCPS kids out on Friday, June 15

Fx Cty students will go to school for a full day on 15 June.
That is the last day of school for our kids.
Teachers will work the 18th and 19th.
At least our kids will get a longer summer than norm!

Makes sense. Hardly any high schoolers would be in school those days anyhow and the elementary students would be in school for about 2 hours on the 19th. According to what was said at tonight's mtg., a minimum of $104,000 will be saved just in transportation fuel.

Then why are the taxpayers paying for 183 days of school if the school board doesn’t think we need 183 days of school? Make the school year 180 days and pay for 180 days. If we make the teachers only teach 180 days plus the work days already in place – 10 or so - we should be able to cut the budget a good bit. The school board certainly should not need or want more money next year.
If they decide to end school early this year it makes no sense for them to add snow days to the calendar next year? Cut the budget and only add days if you need them.
