Anyone know what it costs to get a decent paint job on a mid size SUV around here? Any recommendations, or more importantly, any places to avoid?

MACCO always does a good job. They sometimes have a $100 special. Check their site for more info.

How long does it typically take for a shop to do some minor ding repair then paint the car? I will be paying out of pocket for mine- it's just age/rust spots/oxidation that has the car looking crappy.

I need to know so I can plan to rent a car for however long...I will definately check out spring mall and macco. It's a "hooptie" so I'm not putting TOO much money into it- just want a fresh coat of paint so the people from my HOA stop harassing me about it siting outside since it "doesn't fit in" with the lexus's and beemers everyone else drive in my hood- they call it an "eyesore" and have already tried to tow it once- even though my inspection and tags are up to date!!!!

macco did accident repair damage and the paint they used faded and looked like complete crap after time passed. They advertise cheap prices because they use cheap paint, etc. That's where the 3 month comment came from. Don't go to Macco, they suck.

Spr. auto body is decent.

I'm looking for a decent re-paint place too. I've heard similar things about Maaco and will avoid it.

An OEM quality paintjob is anywhere from $4-8k. Most of that cost is labor in the prep and post work. Note, I said OEM quality. You can go with a lesser quality job, but you always get what you pay for. Time is money, so the less money, the less time spent on the work.
