The proper way to merge is to follow the lane to the end.

Otherwise you have to STOP to allow someone to let you in.

That stops all the traffic in back of you.

If you're in the traveling lane and you're approaching the end of the merge lane
you COULD allow a car to merge in.

That keeps the traffic moving as well as it can.

This will fall on deaf ears, drivers here are generally as obstinate as they can be to one another, making a difficult situation worse.

If JBass was coming off an exit ramp and proceeded to the end to merge, he may have a point. But there are way too many assholes who break out of stopped traffic, go to the head of the line, and then merge. Or who get off onto a parallel residential road to cut to the head of the line and then merge. The problem is telling the wheat from the chaff.

Frankly, if I saw someone in a Jag trying to merge and looking entitled and/or pissed, I'd probably err on the side of "asshole" and do what this woman did.

Commuters are the #1 local plague, as if it needs to be said at all.

This "I'm the most important person on the road/must reach destination ASAP" mentality clearly hasn't done us any favors so much as cause daily, HOURLY accidents on interstate routes.

Several of said pricks live +/-2 hours from the job site to own a larger house and more land, thus spending approx. 4 hours in traffic daily, also struggling to arrive at work on time let alone conduct their vehicles properly during rush hour. Therefore driving 10 miles to work becomes a mission for the rest of us who don't live in bumfuck because we understand the importance of living within reasonable proximity to our respective workplaces.

The funny thing here is that I actually believe in letting people in when they're trying to merge onto the road.

I'm with Jbass on this one. There is no excuse to be an idiot when traffic is bumper to bumper. Not letting somebody merge doesnt get you to work any faster.

If everybody lets one guy in, traffic keeps moving. It's not a hard concept.

JBass you ignorant slut, bagged out dried up schlunk meat like your self and brian should know the score. i know while you are on your back the meter is running, so i understand why you are in such a hurry to move 20 feet futher ahead in traffic. JBass as a woman you should be more understanding that others are in as much of a hurry as you and you need to let them keep a 20 foot lead on you so you can be patient. your job will understand..

Gotta side with those that follow the zipper rule. If everyone did so traffic would move a lot smoother. Trouble is there are those that stop and try to merge at the earliest moment backing up traffic in two lanes. Think about it, there is always people driving to the end of the lane passing those that merge early so logic would dictate if there was only one area people merged traffic would flow a lot quicker than if people merged any where and every where. I avoid letting someone merge before that, otherwise you'd end up letting everyone and their brother jump in just because. Be patient and traffic will move.

Hate to say it JBass, I seriously doubt she read this...but if YOU feel better all is good.

One thing that helps the zipper rule work is driving an 11 year old, dirty car and having a fuck you look on your face as you merge.

That's kind of what I do... I put on a turn signal and it usually acts as a nitrous boost for whatever car is in the lane. They shoot up to cut me off and then I just safely glide in after them.

don't be a dick, be courteous and share the road. not letting people merge won't get you to your destination any faster. not to mention someone could really get hurt. couple years ago during the construction shit (that's still going on, fuck) i almost ran into the side wall trying to merge onto 495north from 236. some "BITCH" wouldn't let me in and the merge lane just abruptly ended forcing me to slam on my brakes.

another thing, there are huge signs letting you know where the ramps/merge lanes are. if you know one is coming up, move over and free up some space, are you that stupid and selfish?
