Norovirus in the FCPS
Posted by: Yuck ()

I know a school in PWC was disinfected over the weekend due to the virus. Now several kids are out sick in a local elementary school and are really sick. Most of the kids have had the flu shot.

Does anyone have else have sick kids?

Thanks.

A lot of students in PWC schools are out with the norovirus aka "winter vomiting virus". However, to clarify, the flu shot does not protect against the norovirus.

It's going around in FFX too. Unfortunately, it's extremely contagious and nobody keeps sick kids home anymore.

The health dept has confirmed a school in Arlington has kids and teachers with the virus. The virus can still be spread 72 hours after infection.

It's going around our gym too. Be sure to bring disinfectant wipes and wipe off equipment before and after you use them. Wear sandals in the locker room facilities.

And what school is this? Considering there are a lot in FFX OP, could a specific area at least be named, so I and others can stay away from these germ infested areas until they are cleared out? Thanks.

My whole family got it last week on Tuesday (though neither of our kids are in FCPS). We went to visit my parents on Sunday and now they have it. Someohow we infected them 5 days after our symptoms dissipated. The vomiting is only off and on for a couple of hours, and you generally feel better in about a day. That is why it spreads so easily. People think they are better so they go back to work/school but they are still contagious.

It's all just a plot by one of those "Bath and other gooey stuff" stores to sell more dinky bottles of hand sanitizer.

Based on what my gooped-up daughter says, middle school students are falling all over themselves to goop themselves with smelly hand sanitizer - buying the bottles literally by the handfuls in as many different "odors" as possible.

Now they have an excuse for more!

The skeptic in me agrees with you but across FFX the past couple weeks has spread like wildfire

My ten year old has a terrible headache and a sore throat. Her throat is not red. Does anyone know if this is what the norovirus starts off like? The dr office is closed and I am just curious.

Thanks!

Sore throat wasn't a symptom for anyone in our house but my wife and I both started with minor headaches. If she complains of general nausea then you might be in for a long night. It comes quick, but it goes away quick.

I guess no doctor visit is needed unless your child can no longer hold down an ice chip. Scary. It spreads quick but dehydration is hard to tell in a young child. Keep those ice pops handy.

Norovirus is the blowing chunks while you spew diarrhea dumbasses. The real trick is to be able to turn around on the toilet quick enough so as to not leave a hideous mess on your bathroom floor...or worse yet not make it to the bathroom in time for the head to catch the brown or yellow rain.

Which dumb ass said that their kids had flu shots but still blew chunks?

Vomiting and diarrhea. Drink a lot of water. Eat bananas or oatmeal.
