Lights out at 3 schools but not homes?

Does anyone know why the lights would go out for a while at least 3 schools -- Chantilly High, Rocky Run (both in Chantilly along Stringfellow Rd.) and Madison High (in Vienna), but not in any of the student's homes (that are relatively close to the schools)? This seems rather odd...it happened between 9 and 10am this morning. I was home at the time and they did not go off here at our home near Stringfellow.

Principal @ Chantilly came on the intercom after the power outage talking about downed power lines. Probably something to do with the stupid construction project right outside of the school on stringfellow, where they route you at a sharp 45 degree angle twice.

And you know for a fact that no students' homes were affected by the outages?

How about nearby residences without school-age kids, were they affected?

Thanks, and just meant the students who told me about the outage -- their homes were not affected. Not sure of others -- I thought maybe someone would mention something more about that.

After decades of constant modifications (adding new service, etc.), I don't know why the power system works as well as it does. It would seem strange that these schools have dedicated lines serving them and nobody else.

Where I live, the other side of my street is served by a different main line than my side of the street. They seem to have at least twice the outages as we have over on this side.

Odd. Lights out for time this morning at Louise Archer Elementary, right by Madison. I know Facilities Mgmt was on site doing inspections for future electrical upgrades, but that was well after the outage.
