Notice the URL says, "icare."

Is the Fairfax County government acting facetious?

That's obviously some kind of acronym.

Internet Customer Annoyance, Real Estate?

You won't find out who owns my damned house on the County's website. Punch in my address and you'll get a big "NAME WITHHELD BY REQUEST".

I would suggest that everybody do that. Too many nosy motherfuckwers around...

I would probably ask that my name be withheld, too, if my name were Tubby.

But, we do know who owns your house...you do! Or is this something like "who is buried in Grant's Tomb?"

Yeah, there are ways around that though.

I don't believe you. What's your address, so I can check?

To see how much good withholding your name will do you, pick any random listing from the Fairfax County site that says 'Name withheld by request' and go enter it in the Washington Post tax assessment search. I entered in 'Main' as the street with no address and picked the first one I saw. Entered the same thing at the Post site and voila, all the normal info is there. You can also search by name and other details there. Give it a shot, tubby.

Is there any site that lists the amount that the seller credited the purchaser at closing? That info is always in the letters that the real estate agents send out, but I can't figure out how to find it otherwise.

I remember they took a lot of flak about it when they first did that site, and they wouldn't change it then. They basically said it was public data that they were merely making available in a convienent format. They do say they will consider removing certain people's data for specific reasons such as security concerns but you can find Dick Cheney's house through that site so not sure how often they do it.

It wont do any good. Anyone that wants to can go down to the court house and look up the deed to the address. Its considered public information
