Supposed to be quite a few damaged structures being reported. Does anybody know of any in FFC?

As soon as they closed federal buildings the roads got packed. VDOT responded by closing parts of the Fairfax Parkway for line painting at 2:30 making the problem even worse.

We had stuff knocked over out (many) book shelves - a toilet is strangely now leaking at tank/bowl connection...great, just what I want to fix now.

And I have to do a walkaround outside, mainly to check the chimney.

I see about an hour after main shock there was a small aftershock at same epicenter - didn't hear or feel anything.

The new doctors office building in Fair Oaks has significant damage to its foundation , cracks and chunks of concrete that are missing,

Probably cause it was new and hadn't settled yet, , OR just typical shitting construction .

They had a roof collapse at the Annandale campus of NVCC. The students were evacuated, but they were told it was okay to go back in through a text alert. Then an Officer suddenly came running out and told them to flee.

As for the Pentagon, pipes cracked and windows broke. The entire building rocked hard.

Nope, that just happens with bigger quakes, especially on the East Coast, where it simply doesn't make much sense to construct buildings for earthquakes. An older house of ours, well constructed to say the least, developed foundation cracks in NJ after a Ramapo fault earthquake back in the 80's.

I heard that CES is no longer fit for our kids.

They plan on blasting the old school to make way for an upscale fitness center.

I only hope that M does not apply for a job. She is a real *%#*+.

Suck on that.

Didn't some building facades fall on parked cars in Vienna? I saw some photos on News Channel 8 of cars totally crushed.

Anyone else feel the aftershock about 15 minutes ago? I was reading and noticed the house was rattling. I thought "I hope this is an aftershock, or else something really expensive is happening".

part of me says while the probability of happening is under 5%, i feel our area will eventually get hit by a 7.0+ earthquake.

I woke up after sleeping about 3 hours. As I was about to get out of bed, I seem to have felt something - more along the lines of a cat jumping on my bed, but there was no cat. Odd.

Peru had a 7.0 yesterday. I happened mostly in barren land and about 375 miles from Lima, so no major damages have been reported at this point.

I heard of a home under construction collapsing near Bealton, VA, but can't find any reports. Anyone familiar? Bealton is where 17 comes north from Fredericksburg and intersects with 28 coming from Dulles. It's pretty rural there, but there's a development in the area.

I couldn't find any reports of any modern homes collapsing and most reports were chimneys and facades coming off.

I can't find my girdle.

It was drying, out on the line, but must have jumped off during the earthquake.
