They hike the rate and then spend it on bonuses and turf fields.

The bonuses for county employees aren't a waste, because most of the money will be spent locally, including at the McDonald's you're working the fry station at, therefore giving you job security.

If you want to get mad at something in Fairfax, then you should directly ask the board of directors how much of your tax dollars are going towards subsidized housing and how much is going towards providing police, fire, education for illegals in the county. I think that number would get you much more irate than a small bonus for an employee.

Seriously. Give it some thought. I'll bet the amount being spent on those services for illegals would make you feel like a horse kicked you in the stomach. Have you ever wondered why nobody has provided such numbers? I'd love to see numbers on this. It would knock your socks off.

What really sucks is they HAD a $97 million dollar budget surplus, how do you end your fiscal year with that much money, hell reduce our property taxes for the following year

how much did it cost to post 5 fire engines over a weekend for the boot collection event? why do they give over half of the entire revenue to schools and don't demand an audit?

The costs were minimal. The EMT and firefighter personnel were already on duty. IF they received a call, they would leave the collection spots at the intersections and go onto the incident. About the only costs involved would be the use of fuel to get from the fire station to the intersection to collect money for charity.

I'm all for school audits. But, I think this is something we won't see. 51% is a lot of money going to the school board so they can squander this money away. Teachers hardly get raises at all. Their starting salaries are in the mid-$40K range. I wonder how many new $80,000+ a year jobs were created for the Gathouse facility? Probably, quite a few. An audit would bring a lot of this crashing down.

Audit, Audit!!! Let's get that on that next ballot!!!
