What's better at Woodson for 9th graders? World Civ 1 or the stand alone courses....English 9 Honors and World History & Geography 1 Honors?

it depends on what you are naturally good at. If math and science is your thing, then dont take world civ. If you are good at both english and history, you might want to consider world civ.

i had insane amounts of hw in world civ as a freshman.
if you want a social life, or any life at all, do NOT take world civ.

please, DON'T TAKE WORLD CIV. I honestly wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, and it will destroy your GPA.

For example, you have to memorize every single country and capital on the planet, as well as the geographical features, then place them on a map. That's what the tests are like.

If you are going to college someday, take the combined course so the work is spread out and you don't have big projects or tests in both on the same day.

I graduated from Woodson about 7 years ago. I did not take WorldCiv because I'm more science & tech oriented.

From what I remember hearing about WorldCiv, it's quite challenging. The workload is heavier than some college courses.

With that said, in WorldCiv you are surrounded by high-caliber students and teachers who constantly make you think. Taking WorldCiv in you freshman year will provide you with a solid academic foundation (assuming you do the class work and maintain your grades).

However, the freshman Honor classes and subsequent AP classes will be challenging on their own, as well.

It really depends on the person you are and the homework you want to do.

World civ 1 (9th Grade) would be a few hours a night JUST for that class. Then you might be in Honors Biology, A Language, A hard math, P.E./Health, and a elective, which adds up to a lot.

The stand alone english 9 honors has hw, but it is much easier than world civ, but harder than english 9.

The hnors history is fairly easy.
