Thanks everyone. At GMU, I was looking at a site for companies to advertise their apts, it is free to advertise for a roommate so in case anyone is thinking about that I was wrong about there being a fee. Roommates.com is also free, hadn't used that site is about 10 years and didn't think it was still around.

Sublet is a good site that seems to weed out a lot of the riff raff. I wouldn't use Craigslist to look for a room mate, too many dubious characters on that site.
