I usually don't order lattes or other drinks that involve a lot of work. If I get a regular cup of coffee, no. If I order a drink that is involved, maybe. It depends on the service.

No. They already make above minimum wage, it's not like they survive on tips like waiters and waitresses.

Yes. Usually just the coin change from whatever I ordered. It's rarely anything like 10% or 20% but like eesh said they're paid better than "regular" wait staff.

I don't drink Starbucks, but I don't put money in tip jars anywhere. I'll tip if I'm seated and my food is brought to me, but if I have to stand at a counter to place my order, then no tip.

Shit, with some of the funky attitudes workers have nowadays, they should give the customer tips.

I got to agree with hoocandode or whatever it's name is.
Tip for what ? Doing their job? Same at Five Guys, Auntie Annes etc.....

Now here's one- buffet, They bring me a soda and take my plates away when I'm done? Should I really tip? I'm serving myself wtf? I'll give them a dollar and that's it, they barely deserve that.

Yeah, you don't leave a tip for the fast food workers for getting you a hamburger, so why is Starbucks so special?

Another question, do you tip the person that does take out at a restaurant? When I get take out at TGIF or Chili's, it's usually the bartender that puts in the order, sometimes the person that seats you. I've seen people leave a tip, but why? How hard is it to pick up the food from the kitchen and hand it to me?

Blessed are the murderous.

i used to work at starbucks for like 4 years. we used to call ourselves starbucks slaves. i personally won't go to a starbucks in the fairfax county area again mainly because i know about all of the nastiness that goes on at them... not just by employees but cleanliness of the stores overall. i covered shifts at like 6 or something stores. like the store in centerville that was closed for about 2 months because of mold. we had mold in the ice cooler one summer. we found it kinda funny considering just about every drink had ice in it. a funny story i remember sneezing in this assholes coffee one time when i was working at an unamed sbux on rt. 50. that was hilarious!!! i remember when i was telling this girl that i worked with about it later.. we both couldn't stop laughing. i still find it funny. i had my back turned and was filling up the coffee, then i sneezed as i was putting the lid on... and into the coffee.. it wasn't on purpose but it was definitely a direct hit. i looked both ways and turned around real sketchy like but nobody saw it (which made it even more funny because it was during a morning rush and the line was to the door) and yea i put the lid on and took his money. i remember telling my sister about that story and other nasty ones from work however she didn't find it funny. i guess you actually have to work in food service to actually understand what goes on and understand the humor of it. sidenote did you know that a carafe of coffee costs starbucks 50 cents to make and can hold aprox. 10 venti cups worth however the cheapest cup is $1.50. they make a shitload of money. so yea sell one cup and that pays for 3 hours worth of regular coffee(that is if nobody even buys 1... which never happens).

Starbucks coffee is way overrated. You have to put milk in to make it taste okay. They're in the milk business. Dunkin' Donuts coffee is way better.

It's hoocoodanode, and I am not an it; I am a human being.

I tip $1-$1.50 at buffets.

I saw a tip jar at McDonald's. Are you kidding me!

As for Starbucks I don't drink what looks like and tastes like used motor oil.

i tip for services that could not be done with ease by a machine. that said, i tip waiters well but when it's something like an assembly line, tips are ridiculous.

if you are going to tip the starbucks people, you better tip the checkout person at the grocer and you damn well better tip the sys admins at your work because we do what machines truly cannot do for themselves.

i dont get starbucks, not a fan of coffee to start with but it's overpriced.

why would i? i might contemplate it if i ever went by near christmas and ordered over 4 drinks for a group of people, but other than that, no.

i don't understand the mentality why waiters and ppl in food services deserve to make more than some retail monkey.

No. I keep money loaded on a Starbucks card and don't carry coins with me. They're not really performing a personal service so I don't really feel inclined to tip them.

Maybe if they really went out of their way I'd toss thema buck, but I can't imagine what they'd have to do in order to deserve that.

Yeah, I/we/whoever buys the drinks usually does. I've been really cool with the folks at my Starbucks for the past decade, even tough they've changed staff quite a bit throughout that time period. I used to also go to a Starbucks where really good friends from my high school worked and chilled at, so I'd get a lot of stuff for free. Ahhh, the memories. I miss those days. At least I still get a free upgrade regarding my drink size at the Starbucks I currently go to (That is, when the cool individual is working).

I tip baggers at the grocers, but that's mostly in Florida, because I don't see anymore baggers around here (It's very rare).

As for Starbucks coffee, I don't get that either. As a matter of fact, I've never liked coffee, and I still don't. I think it tastes bland. My drink is the Caramel Macchiato (Iced usually).

The reason I (Or whomever buys the drinks on a particular day) gives tips at Starbucks, is because I know quite a few of the people there, and they're really good folks. I guess it's a habit now, because I usually drop a tip at other locations as well. If the service is horrible though, of course I'll withhold it, but that's yet to occur.

The one time I felt bad about not giving enough of a tip, was at the airport. I was late for a flight, and my family (Mom and pops), were already there. I was a teenager I think, and sure enough one of the curb-side baggage supervisors had my ticket and boarding pass ready for me, and he had kept them secure in his zipped-up pocket so that he could get my bags and everything else squared away for me (My folks were already through security, so they couldn't give it to me). I only had $1, and I gave it to him, but I felt like garbage for that. I told him that I didn't have anymore money on me, and he smiled and thanked me, and we both exchanged a "Merry Christmas" (It was around Christmas time, obviously). I intended to go back to the airport to give him a better tip later on, but I never made it back. Just thinking about it makes me want to see if he still works there. The guy saved my entire trip for me.

Nope. I order a venti coffee. No frills. It takes ten seconds to pour. No reason for a tip.
