A Woodbridge man was arrested Tuesday after police said he bought $150,000 in kitchen appliances with stolen credit cards.
Detectives connected Sabastian Adu Gyamfi, 56, to credit card thefts across the country and found he received items purchased at Home Depot stores using the stolen or fraudulently obtained cards, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.
During the investigation, officers went to the Public Storage units, 14123 Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Woodbridge, with search warrants and found "an estimated total of $150,000 in high end kitchen appliances and other property" in three units, Perok said.
Officers also executed a search warrant at Gyamfi's home in the 2100 block of Armitage Circle in Woodbridge and took computers and other property, according to Perok.
Detectives said Gyamfi contacted another suspect during the investigation to try to get her to destroy evidence, Perok said.
Gyamfi was charged with two counts of credit card theft, one count of obstruction of justice, and one count of possession of stolen property. He was held on $100,000 bond, and his next court date was not available.
Diana Oppong, 37, the 2100 block of Armitage Court in Woodbridge, was charged with obstruction of justice. She was held on $10,000 bond, and her next court date was not available.
