Criminal Misdemeanor Citation For Running Over Fire Hose
Posted by: Squidz ()

I am a resident at the Hermitage in Fair Oaks, the one that caught on fire on Feb 8th.

So when it all happend, I was the first resident to notice the fire and quickly went into a series of actions... I banged on all of my neighbors doors and told them to get out. I also recognized which apartment was on fire and when i knocked, no one answer. I heard dogs inside so I began to break down the door to the apartment.. As I was doing so, the owners of the apartment come running up the stairs and we get the door open and the dogs out...

I then went to the hallway and broke the glass for the fire extinguisher and we put the fire out that was on the back porch... little did we know the entire roof was on fire.. Anyways, after that I ran to my car to move it for the on coming fire engines. While i was doing so i accidently ran over a fire hose from the first fire engine that had arrived... After safely parking my car a few yards down the parking lot I was approached by a Fairfax County Police Officer..

I tried to explain to him what I had just done for all my neighbors and how panicked i was about the whole situation, and understandably so (my building was literally burning down). Regardless, and to my shock he wrote me a citation for running over a fire hose, I was floored... and its not just a traffic citation.. its a criminal misdemeanor.. I have a court date in early April...

I cannot afford an attorney, Ive tried writing letters to those neighbors i helped to see if they could testify or write a letter on my behalf, but they have since moved from their apartments and I have had no luck so far. does anyone have any recommendations?? I am a graduating student looking to enter the professional world and would hate for this misdemeanor to ruin any opportunities.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you qualify for a public defender?

Can your parents pay for an attorney?

Your story doesn't make sense. You were moving your car for coming fire engines but there was obviously already one there. Were you parked illegally?

No.. it was very early in the whole situation.. 1 fire engine had JUST arrived, and obviously I could hear many more on the way.

I dont know if I qualify for a public defender, what are the qualifications?
and no unfortunatley my parents cant help either.

Yo, tard....its a traffic offense.

http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/courts/gendist/paylist.htm

driving over fire hose
Statute: 46.2-922
Fine: $30
Processing Fee: $62
Total: $92

Go to court, take one of your neighbors that you saved, tell the judge what happened, you'll probably get the charges dropped or maybe reduced.

Plead your case in court, you actually have a plausible reason for doing what you did.

That being said, running over a firehose can cause it to burst and pretty much fuck over any firefighter that was using said hose. That is why there's a law against it. TMYK

Highlander,

Thank you for your advice, however the citation I was issued clearly states that it is NOT a traffic offense, and that it is a criminal misdemeanor. I even had this same conversation with the arresting officer. Thanks anyways tho...tard?

Tard lol.

I checked the arrest the arrest ticket search and only 1 case of running over a fire hose in on there dating back a couple years.

So when the database in updated, we will ALL know who you are.

So next week go to Arrest Ticket Search here and search for "fire Hose" in the offense back and the anonymous poster will not be anonymous.

Go to court. The officer that wrote you the summons may not have seen you actually run over the hose. If he did not, he cannot write you for the summons since it was a past misdemeanor that was not committed in his presence. If a lame ass whinny fire fighter saw you run over the hose, and conveyed that to the officer, the officer still cannot cite you for the same reason. The officer would have to see a magistrate and would have needed to obtain a warrant or a magistrate's summons for the violation. Secondly, articulate your intent. Judges do not like hearing cases that essentially maybe screwing with people trying to do the right thing that does not harm anyone.

For someone who claims to not be a troll and then sets someone up to be outed like this you are definitely exhibiting trollish behavior.

If your account is true and accurate, I think any judge with a shred of compassion will acknowledge the extenuating circumstances.

Yeah running over a hose is a pretty dumb-assed thing to do.

Did the FIRE CHIEF or A FIREFIGHTER tell you to move your car?

Do you understand what happens if the line is punctured and pressure is lost?

How about the Firemen inside? They might find themselves in a life threatening situation with a severe pressure loss.

Also, your story is most likely inflated to a high degree. Just like my cock is not 9" it's more like 8.5". And the fish I caught that we're eating and I'm bragging to the dinner guests about, was more like a fat one footer and not a 2 footer.

Why don't you share what code section was on your citation.

And you still haven't answered yet, but why did you move your car? If you were parked in a parking space, there wasn't a need to move it.

I think if you explain your story to the judge exactly the same way you described it in your original posting, he'll toss the case out.

I've seen fire trucks drive over fire hoses. I'm sure they can handle a Camry.

Good now let me drive a firetruck over your hose and lock your ass in a burning room and see how fuckin' sure you are, especially if the camry has a nail or sharp object sticking out of it.

Rules are rules, LEARN TO FOLLOW THEM.
Until then, keep driving over fire hoses and paying fines because it will help the department pay for new hoses, to replace the ones you keep fucking up.

You simple fucks.

Not to defend him, but it's probable that the fire was in the attic by that point. Until it broke through the roof, only smoke would have been visible and at night, black smoke would be difficult to see.

? Would running over a fire hose send the hose into whip type effect? Was that what the officer was trying to explain by giving you a ticket?

From my understanding of fire hoses it's not like a garden hose, a fire hose takes two fire fighters to hold it. A sudden cut off on then back on would kick them around around.

How to beat the ticket. If you have the balls, go talk to the fire fighters you ran over the hose from. explain why you did it. If the firefighters think it is a bullshit ticket then the cop will drop it.

Wasn't Feb 8th just after the big snowstorm? Snow is white, fire hoses are white. Tell the judge you didn't see the fucking thing.

Dalmation Poop- Geez dude, you must be one disturbed individual to let this get you that worked up

Sorry dude, I AM disturbed by your supposed actions, and initial inability to comprehend the seriousness of your infraction. The ticket was NOT given in error, AND I HOPE YOU PAY THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE FINE PLUS COURT COST SINCE YOU CHOSE TO FIGHT IT. If you lose, please waste some more money on an appeal, ya bozo.

Yeah whatever. Learn to obey laws and don't ignorantly put others lives in danger for no reason.

The asshole here is definately NOT me because I HAVE NEVER RAN OVER A FIRE HOSE, or even considered it!

So go back to the fake wanna-be hero shit while putting the REAL heroes in danger. Yeah and keep tootin' your own horn and living in ignorance.
Obviosly someone of importance to fire management thought you were not a hero but a HINDERANCE!

SO ONE LAST TIME- DON'T DRIVE OVER FIRE HOSES IN THE FUTURE, PAY THE DAMN FINE, and APPEAL THE DECISION SO THAT WE GET MORE TAX DOLLARS BACK FROM YOU.

Oh yeah and Fuck off fuck-head.
