Why wait? Let them go out and play now. It will give you time to prepare a nice warm lunch.

If they must wait:

2. Bake christmas cookies
3. Make snowflakes and then decorate with them
4. Decorate some cards so they are ready to send thank you notes after Xmas.

Why wait? Go out and go about your usual business. I just drove to the grocery store with no problems. Unless you don't have 4WD, then you should probably just stay inside.

build a fort out of chairs and blankets and pillows and watch the snow fall. Pretend to be a snow rescue patrol. Waiting for the snow to end and then go outside to "rescue" snowmen from the snowfall.

This was my suggestion, too. When I was a kid, we were out as soon as the snow was deep enough to do anything with. Sledding on 3 inches carved out a nice tube for when the other 5 inches fell, and provided a nice, slippery pathway to the massive snow ramp at the bottom of the hill.

If their clothes get all wet, have them come in and eat some soup while you throw them in the dryer. 20 minutes, they'll be ready to go again.

Another possibility; depending on their age, tell them they'll get a prize or something if they shovel the walk while they're waiting for the snow to accumulate. By the time they're done, the walk will have more snow on it. You can then welch out on the surprise by saying that the job isn't done and sending them back out. You can do that until the snow stops, and then they'll run out and play and forget all about your deception.

Kids like to be lied to, right?

I am not always a smart ass; sometimes I am helpful.

I wish I could go out in the snow, but I am stuck in bed. Being sick is boring.

What kid waits for the snow to stop? I must have run my dryer 6 times today. My daughter was out for 2 hours, in for 1 to warm up, dry the clothes, refuel and back out again. Starting at 7:45 am, ending at 8pm. And we're gonna do it all again tomorrow....
