There was a bomb threat at West Springfield Elem school about an hour ago. A co worker heard something on the radio and I called my daughter's elem school (not w springfield) and they confirmed it.

actually, the bomb threat letter was found at the elementary school but the threat concerned West Springfield high school. Hence the high school students being released early and the cops still there with it blocked off.

Bomb threat closes high school
October 9, 2009 - 2:04pm

SPRINGFIELD, Va. - A Fairfax County high school closed at noon Friday because of a bomb threat.
Fairfax County public schools spokeswoman Barbara Hunter says students at West Springfield High School were sent home at noon, while police investigated a bomb threat. Nobody was hurt.

A note attached to a rock was thrown through a window overnight at West Springfield Elementary School, warning that a bomb would go off at West Springfield High School Friday.

The high school was evacuated, and students were safely escorted to the football field. Normal bus transportation was provided to get the students home.

A police helicopter noticed a suspicious package on the roof at the West Springfield Elementary school, and students were evacuated.

They were let back in a short time later.

i am a student at the higschool, at 11:10 A.M we were released to go home, NO ONE WAS ALLOWED BACK IN THE SCHOOL, The administrators made sure of that, they said if we had backpacks in the school, we have to come later tonight or tomorrow to grab our stuff out of the school. WTOP needs to get their facts straight.

Ok, so some looney bird throws a rock into West Springfield Elem LAST NIGHT.

Stop there.

What time did someone in the elementary school see the threat? Don't employees arrive at like 7:30??

They take the threat seriously and evacuate the high school FOUR HOURS LATER!!!???

Some details must be missing or FCPS needs serious help with their emergency response program.

yeah I got to West Springfield High School. It was pretty crazy today we thought there was going to be helicopter landing on our field but it was a police flyover. Old Keen Mill Road and Rolling Road were clusterfucks there were about 2000 kids herding toward nowhere, the buses didnt come, and it was chaos. they left us in the heat for 2 hours and the whole thing was just a freaking mess.

Did the school call Social Services on the parents who were late to pick up their kids?

I go to WSHS as well, and It'll never cease to amaze me how many "grown ups" find it hilarious to make fun of us high schoolers. Yeah, it was hot. But really? Social Services? Sorry. I cannot believe you were being serious. Cool it with the sarcasm and remember these are KIDS you are talking about.

Yeah, a lot of bus drivers are not available for these kind of situations. They are at work at their other jobs.

FCPS is funny. When it's snowing in the morning, they tell us to go home and glue ourselves to our TVs all morning, just in case they order an early closing. Of course they expect us to do this for FREE!

Fuck that, either I have to go to my other job or I go home and take a damned nap!

In their pants, but then Social Services was called because the parents didn't potty train those kids well enough.

I see that some of the brightest people visit this forum.

The football stadium has quite a few AirJohns (pit toilets) that are open during the day and at night.

Some of the questions that are asked on this thread surprise me.
Go play in someone elses sandbox!
