cops around here

alright so i have recently received my tickey to freedom(license), and i dont mind driving more then 1 person in the car with me mainly because im a safe responsible driver that follows the laws..but i've been wondering if the cops around here are chill or are they more up tight..also if i get pulled over would the cop bitch about having more then one person or just give me a warning, depending on the cop ofcourse. Also how are the cops with weed around here do they bitch or would they just give you a warning?

Yeah, the cops just bitch if you have weed. They'll lecture you for hours about it.

my extensive experience with ffx pd says they ticket for everything they see and that they do not initiate searches without blaring PC. However, the amount that the probable cause screams out increases as the driver's age decreases.

also I love the hypothetical questions you know nobody can answer... if I just say, yes, cops will just give you a warning, you'll go do it even though you've already said you know some don't? How can you tell the two apart?

but more important than that is what will happen if you are ticketed... the penalties are staggering for drivers under 19 now, even for minor stuff. It's not worth the bullshit.

sounds like you are trying to turn your ticket to freedom into the exact opposite.

Agreed. It's a ticket to freedom, not an excuse to be a dumbass.

You have the rest of your life to drive your mooching friends around (trust me). Obey the laws, be a responsible driver, and don't push your luck. Cops love to come down hard on teenagers so hopefully, they don't make the same mistake twice.

And if you think your license means you can now carry drugs from place to place more easily, please cut it in half and get a new one in a year after you've grown up some.

i'd start by not buying the weed. reduces your chances of getting cited for it significantly.

I think its time to raise the driving age to 18, and the OP is all the proof we need. Yes some teens are responsible people, but they are the exception not the norm. There are more distractions then ever in cars and teens already have the attention span of a fly.

My advice for dealing with cops when you get pulled over. Do what ever you can to let the cop know you are not going to pull a gun on them. That means turn your engine off, sit still, keep your hands on the steering wheel, and calmly let the cop know every move before you make it "Officer, my lisence is in my wallet pocket, i'm going reach for it in my pack pocket". You would be surprised how effective this is.

Here's a stat for ya 5-0 po po...I was 3 for 3 in getting pulled over and a getting a ticket before 18. 1 for 4 since. You decide if they are chill with youngins or not.

If a FCPD cop finds weed..you'll have 10 cops pulled up behind you in less than 3 minutes. Good luck getting a warning then.

But, if it's a warning you want, here's a sure fire way to get one instead of a ticket: when you pass your license to cop, make sure it's wrapped in a c-note. Err..I guess at your income level, it would be more like a Lincoln.

I know I shouldn't help this kid but...

ALWAYS CARRY YOUR ILLEGAL SHIT IN THE TRUNK

Don't give anyone any plain site or safety reason to establish PC. It might help your lawyer defend you if you go get nabbed.

If I catch you correctly, I do agree about the age issue. The younger that you are, the more that the Police screw with you, and the worse you are often treated. Rookie cops are the absolute worst, as quite a few of them have chips on their shoulders, whereas some of the more experienced Officers are more chill about minor offenses. As always however, they are all individuals, and you might run into a jerk, or you might run into a really cool kat.

Also, Fairfax PD Tickets and Arrests for some truly dumb garbage at times. When I say this, I mean that if you were in another area of Virginia, such as Newport News or Norfolk for instance, they would only issue you a warning, whereas in FFX they will issue you a straight up summons, or even bring you in for a booking. Generally however, the one plus with FCPD is that I don't see too much corruption.

OTOH, it might be that the younger you are, the more likely you are to say stupid shit to the cop, or just have an attitude that doesn't give the cop much motivation to cut you a break.

I think it goes both ways. Of course, the cops assume that a 35 year old driving a volvo with a baby seat in back is probably not carrying weed. When they see a car full of kids wearing baggy D&G or Nautica shirts and baggy pants and all their baseball caps are "whicky-whack" sideways, what are they going to think? They're going to be a little suspicious that maybe there's some drugs in the car.

Then the kid starts giving the cop a hard time about "pulling me over cuz I'm fly, yo!" or whatever stupid wanksta shit those types pull, who could blame the cops if they now feel like this kid was the exact reason they swore to uphold the law, and will stop at nothing to find something to arrest him for?

The older you get, the better you are at handling situations involving the cops.

When I was younger, I was with a friend who pulled the PC question on an officer in a respectful manner (When the Cop asked to search the car), and that enraged the LEO who promptly slapped cuffs on his wrists (He literally turned red in the face). Then he tore the car apart looking for some invisible boogey man (Found nothing, and released him with a summons). The case was eventually dismissed, and the Captain even admitted to wrong doing in the encounter, but the bottom line is that if you are "arrested" (Including temporary roadside detention) for any offense which the Officer deems legitimate, then they as a result of such now have the right to search your vehicle regardless of PC.

That's definitely not always the case though. A younger individual is simply an easier target for citations (They don't know their rights), but sort of on par with what you are saying, they bring forth more suspicion simply due to the nature of drugs and youth.

I was speaking of general citations however.

carrying illegal stuff isn't a right, i prefer the harsher treatment for young bucks. a scared straight approach, once mommy and daddy find out then itll really hit the fan, being young isn't a get out of jail free card, being young is about learning lessons, and if ur dumb ass hasn't learned not to do bad stuff or carry something illegal than u deserve what u get

Let's not stereotype here. Death metal kids also smoke weed.

Maybe you should just move to PG county where smoking weed while driving isn't that big of deal because homicides are epidemic. They also have lower hiring standards for police officers. So think like prior drug use or criminal transgression do no automically DQ you from the hiring process.

Never consent to a search for any reason. Never consent to a search for any reason. Never consent to a search for any reason. I can't say it enough.
It is your right to say no. Keep saying no. They will make you feel as though you have no choice, but you do.
I was once pulled over, with a lil something something in the car, and the cop said he could smell it, which he prob could. We sat there for 20 minutes going back and forth; can I search the car? No, I'm tired, my gf is waiting for me, I worked late. You are not hiding anything, so let me search the car. No. I prepared myself for jail, and I would have gone. But I kept saying no, for atleast 20 mins. He finally let me go, and he had every reason to search. I was high as shit and driving w/o my lights on at 1am.
Can you believe it, he let me go.
Stick to your guns, be strong. No. No. No. And u should prob keep it in the trunk. An ounce stinks like shit in the back seat.

How do light the bong at stoplights if it's in the trunk?

How do indeed.

pos-
I have nothing against cops. Infact I rely upon them to keep the peace. I am not the strongest or toughest guy around, and I would not survive for very long in a "survival of the fittest" world. I dont speak ill of POs, and I am quite respectful when I encounter them, which is rarely.
Im just glad I didnt go to jail. Ive never been to jail and I never plan on going. My childhood is in the past. I am a model citizen these days.

It still is a "survival of the fittest" world out there, but now survival is based on cunning and intellect instead of raw brute force.

It is a comforting thought that the cops will be there to protect you from the "bad guy" when you need them, but being too comfortable is dangerous. When you do need them, they are too late. I don't rely on cops for safety.

For the record, I am not putting down cops. I am putting down the system. (Hating the game, not the player)

I don't know. Those laws were started after I had been driving for a few years.

Don't drive like some asshole kid who just got his dl. If you don't give them a reason to pull you over in the first place, you should be fine. And I didn't think the laws applied to family members... If it is, your parents or your annt & uncle should be able to vouch for you.

Please follow the rules of the road. If you hit a pedestrian while screwing around, your life will be over.

The law:
If you are under age 18, you may carry only one passenger under age 18 during the first year that you hold your driver's license. After you have held your license for one year, you may carry only three passengers under age 18 until you reach age 18. Learner's permit holders may not carry more than one passenger under age 18. Passenger restrictions do not apply to family members.
Violations of either the curfew or passenger restrictions can result in the suspension of your driver's license.

Brothers and sisters, no problem. I'm not sure if it means immediate family, or if cousins are okay. Of course, be prepared to be pulled over for this, since the cop can't "see" that they're family members until he stops you. Just be polite, and courteous (although not so over-the-top that it comes off as sarcastic or suspicious), and you should be fine.
