It's 12:45am. Thunder woke me up.

Raining a lot outside. Looks like there is a flood warning right now too. Might have to go outside with the umbrella and see what's up.

Big storm. 4 inches in 4 hours. I'm sure no one will take that the wrong way...

Don't worry, I am MUCH bigger than your 4 inches.

Haven't got anything here in inside-the-beltway Fairfax. Up with the baby now because we were all woken up by the iPhone's handy flood alert just after midnight. Any idea how to shut that shit off?

^ No idea how to shut if off, but I would if I could. How many people were woken up this evening so that a small number of people on the roads after midnight were made aware of the POTENTIAL for flooding. I appreciate the concept, but not the implementation.

Settings > Notifications

Look for the emergency alerts.

Last night's heavy rains made the Route 50 expansion area (west of Chantilly) a major clusterfuck.

About 10-12 inches of flooding, car accidents, no street lights.

Good job VDOT!

Same. Though, I slept through the storm. Bolted upright a little after midnight when the first iPhone alert went off, got another at about 3:00 that I mostly slept through. Got two more alerts on the drive to work and a fifth alert when I got to the office. That was the last straw, before turning off the emergency notifications.

It kind of sucks too; the emergency alerts could be incredibly useful, especially considering the area we live in. Instead, I get 5 alerts because of fucking rain. So when Russia finally does attack, like I assumed when I got the first alert, I won't have any idea until it's too late.

It would be nice if we could customize the emergency alerts, because getting them for flash flood warnings is not helpful, considering we always have those warnings in this region everytime it rains for more than an hour.

Hey douche, how about just shut your phone off at night. You fucking pussies would be whining if it DIDN'T have that feature.

Most dweebs with iPhones don't know how to turn them off. When I fly I show them, after having it a few years would think they would know.

Was it really necessary for the Obama bureaucrats to send out multiple emergency alerts all night long? Now everyone will disable the feature due to the idiot who cried wolf. Whoever decided to send out those alerts should be fired, but under Obama, they will no doubt get a promotion.

What kind of idiot doesn't either turn their phone off or put it to silent when they go to bed? You're just begging to be woken up by something stupid.

some people use their phone as an alarm or back-up alarm, or leave it on in case of real emergencies from family members or something and don't pay for something extraneous like a home phone. As for silent, the emergency alert system overrides your sound settings and the iPhone's "Do Not Disturb" setting.

Idiot.

+1 Government/Lib bureaucrats generally lack the mental capacity to consider the consequences of their idiotic actions.

Doesn't do that on my Droid, I slept like a baby last night. If you ask me, the real idiot is the one who buys an iPhone.

Another reason to never own an iPhone.

Unless you're on an organ transplant list or planning to go outside where the actual weather happens, turn off your phone when you go to bed. And don't fucking start a thread about thunder waking you up and how you might have to go outside and look at the weather. What are you, a useless dick?

I don't have a landline, so I have to keep my phone on in case of emergencies. You would too if both your girlfriends were pregnant and your dealer may call at anytime.

My girlfriends live with me and I do business on my schedule, not my dealer's. Being a sad brokedick is no way to go through life, son.
