Care Packages from FFX to Local Troops- 9/11 FU Bid Laden we haven't forgot

I HIGHlY respect those overseas and in military that allow us to continue to enjoy freedom in US.

The troops(US citizens) that are in Afghanistan and Iraq right now being killed by snipers and car bombs to protect US citizens.

After talking with a guy who has a son in Iraq, He suggested to remember Memorail Day we send care packages to the troops.

Simple stuff like hard candy, high dollar cigars, clean wipes, etc... the stuff that reminds our troops overseas that we respect them putting their life on line for our freedom.

what are the local Fairfax troops we can send care packages too? Suggestins as to what to send? I heard Jergens baby soft because it keeps bugs away in Iraq, simple letters from kids, write on the box "From US Thanks - FU Taliban, 9/11 We haven't forgot."

There are non-profits that organize and distribute care packages year round. If you contact any recruiting office, they will provide you with contact information.

Perfumed wipes or skin softeners are not recommended for men and women in the field. Unscented is better.

Candy - large bags of individually wrapped hard candy are at the top of the list. They use the candy to gain the trust of the children and then the parents in the villages.

Most frequently requested is cans of Pringles. the packaging is strong enough to withstand the shipping tosses and drops.

If you have a personal list, use the USPS Flat Rate Boxes. All parcels to our troops are channeled through a US APO or FPO address and qualify for the lower rate.

Also, check with your local post office to see if there are any discounts for our soliders. When I took in my boxes a few months ago, the PO gave me a $0.50 discount per box. Every little bit helps.

If you do not have a personal connection to a soldier, sailor, Coastie (yes...the CG is in the Persian Gulf) or Marine, you can try these links:

that people still believe that bullshit. Iraq and Afghanistan are stone age countries with absolutely ZERO capability to affect our "freedom" here in the US.

When are we going to learn that not everybody, everywhere wants to be American.

The Russians lost 150,000 troops before they figured out that the Afghanis didn't want to be Russians. How many do we have to lose?

Meanwhile, not only did we not attack the true enemy, Saudi Arabia, they are our "allies". Brilliant!

hey genius, we arent fighting any specific country, nor was one responsible for crashing those planes. we are good at fighting countries but we are still learning to fight organizations. the good news is that we have technological advancements that are getting better everyday and it's kept the troop casualties to a minimum.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I did learn the Post office will deliver any box for flat rate of $5.00 to troops any where.

Saudis who received training and funding from groups based (at the time) in Afghanistan. We had no choice there; Iraq was very much a war of choice.

Of course the groups received funding from all over the Islamic world ... and if we met their stated grievances, there'd be new injustices for them to avenge. A true believer is never happy.
