In New Mexico they actually did tell people to take glasses off/ put hair up. They had some beef with beards too because of chins. They're doing it for our safety!!

New Mexico is one of the 'no smile' states as well. It's not a safety issue; I think it's just about being able to cross reference databases and correctly identify and link each and every individual.

Yeah they measure the distance between eyes and distance between ears. Foreheads, mouth... they do lots-o-measuring. They told us New Mexicants that it was to make sure no one else could steal our identities...

It all started when we started using some AZ company to make the new HI-TECH, counterfeit-proof, smart IDs. Supposedly these ID's even contain some sort of radio chip to broadcast info.

Did you virginians recently switch to a new ID company?

you cant wear glasses already. basically, they need enough of your face to be visible to do facial recognition accurately. this means you cant have emo hair covering half of your face for the picture.

Shoot, in Texas they make you submit to a biometric thumbscan for your license. I'm not a paranoid tinfoil hat kinda guy, but this kind of stuff starts to get me nervous.

I don't see how this has any effect on anyone, good or bad. It's just a license picture. The only ones who'll ever see it is you, 7-11 and the cops. None of whom gives a shit what your picture looks like.

After sitting for hours at DMV, only a total fucking moron would smile anyway (as evident in the video).

I've seen one of the new licenses with the laser picture for VA already so it is fairly recent that it happened.
