I imagine they're trying to influence public opinion and encourage support for Brian Moran. Just my best guess.
Well thanks for enlightening me but I'm talking about hundreds of signs in rows and double rows within about an 1/4 of a mile stretch. They'd do better just spreading them out. The could probably go from the Beltway up to Pickett Road with all of the damn signs.
Now the McAuliffe volunteers are out there trying to squeeze signs in between the Moran signs. It's insane.
I predict that McAuliffe will win the nomination and then move on to lay a beat-down on McDonnell by +8%. Bobby is George Allen's old puppet and this is sure to be exploited. That and the fact that he's Republican and they are known for failure.

Politicians and the people that support them are not the sharpest tools in the shed. You shouldn't really be surprised.
Has ANYONE ever let these road signs determine who they vote for? If you base your political decisions on who has the most, or most colorful signs, please kill yourself now.
I will add that anyone that actually places those signs along the road, should also kill themselves.
I'll try to find a cite, but I'm pretty sure the political ads are illegal (as well as all form of advertising, etc.) on public right-of-ways.
I do know it's VDOT's problem to remove them.
On a personal note, I would concider these signs to be "litter" and the respective party should be fined a littering charge for each sign.
These signs block all the dead grass I'd rather be looking at.
For higher-up offices, I suspect people will cast a reasonably informed vote. But for lower-down offices and low-turnout primaries, name recognition and party affiliation will determine the path.

Political campaign signs are about the only signs that are permitted on public right-of-way.
In Reston, because mowing is controlled by RA, whenever the wild flowers are planted, or the grass is mowed, all the signs are pulled and stored in a trailer. Then, the little campaign grunts rush over to pull them out and "re-plant" them.
