Fairfax expands red light camera program to six intersections.

I'm glad to see this coming back to the intersection of Eaton Place and Chain Bridge Road. Crossing the street on foot there is like playing Russian Roulette.
They had a camera there once before and it actually worked. Too bad they took it down. (People actually stopped flooring it on yellow and coming to a complete stop)

More power to them; the FCPD call the County Parkway the County Deathway. There has been at least one traffic fatality at every intersection; at some, there have been multiple.

Like it or not, red light cameras are a safety tool, not a damn invasion of your privacy you Facebooking share too much idiots. The parkway needs to be improved with interchanges and an additional lane, esp. at the intersection of Pope's Head Road.

The red light cameras can pay for the improvements and hopefully slow down these cigarette smoking kamikazes. By the way, stop dumping your ashtrays on the ground at the intersections assholes.

not exactly sure how this is going to effect the "deathway" since these are lights in Fairfax City.

Bull shit. Do you know how many intersections there are along the Fairfax County Parkway? Not every intersection has had a fatal accident. However I would agree there are some locations that have had more then one fatal accidents. It is also not unusual for an accident to have multiple deaths

Speed and alcohol has killed more people on this road then red lights or intersections.

Red light and speeding cameras (especially) enable the police to become lazier and more wide at the same time.

How the chief had the nerve to ask for more officers to "process" the camera's citations is proof these are only used for additional revenue, and not to make the roads safer.

Is is really that hard to look both ways at an intersection to spot a fast vehicle which may run the light? Before crossing take that extra second or two delay to ensure your safety. It's common sense which most people around here lack.

Yea theyre such a good safety tool that studies show they increase accidents from people slamming on the breaks not wanting to get a ticket. VDOTs own study documented an increase of accidents and injuries for them.

It has NOTHING to do with safety.

Its just a way to get more money, nothing more.

No it's not hard at all, but everyone around here has a "ME FIRST" attitude. I drive a bus in Fairfax City and people just can't wait 3 seconds while I drop off one passanger, especially on Jermantown Road or Old Lee Highway. They have to go around crossing the double yellow line into on-coming traffic, WHICH IS ILLEGAL, people.
