Herndon to implement E-Verify program

"Effective February 2, the Town of Herndon will participate in E-Verify, a Web-based system that electronically verifies the employment eligibility of newly hired employees."

Herndon is known as Fairfax County's pioneer. This is a small step toward reclaiming jobs for Citizens.

Since mandatory E-Verify has been stripped from the job stimulus package, Congress and this Administration has cleared a path for illegal aliens to jump on the "stimulus jobs" wagon. The Chambers are delighted.

Extending E-Verify to all of Fairfax County would ensure that stimulus infrastructure jobs would go to citizens.

E-verify was required to be in place for all businesses doing work with the federal government by Jan 16 2009, but a court challenge has postponed that until 21st May, 2009 at the earliest. Businesses and state/local governments can hop aboard the e-verify bandwagon at any time though but it isn't a federal law to do so.
