Speeding cameras in Manasses and Prince William Parkway?

Was curious if those cameras in Manasses and Princes William Parkway are just for red lights or for speeding? I was in a bit of a rush to get home due to an emergency and went about 8 miles over the speed limit. Didnt notice the cameras till the last minute. I hope they don't mail a ticket.

8 miles over? Must not have been much of an emergency. The average drivers around here are 15-20 over all the time.

Speed cameras are used in Virginia but are not admissible in court, you will not get a ticket for speed but could get one for running a red light. The few speed cameras that are used are for data collection and often identify a habitual speeder who drives the same route each day so a cop can wait for that driver an issue a real ticket.

Bull Shit!!!!

Speed Cameras are not legal in VA. Nobody is wasting money on cameras to watch one or two speeders here and there. If you are seeing cameras they are either red light cameras, traffic study - vdot related, or traffic monitoring - again vdot watching traffic.

They are legal and used in 14 different locations. The bullshit about not having to show up in court is true, but you will owe the money + court costs. By not showing up in court you have waived your rights to fight the charge (say someone else was driving etc) and agree to pay all fines.

Really? Where would these 14 cameras be located?

We are talking speed cameras not red light cameras. Speed cameras are not legal in Virginia.

I hate those speeding cameras. They are just too fast for me.
