The kind of drivers who receive those suspensions and letters for mandatory driver improvement clinics are called "rapid point accumulators" by the DMV. I don't think she is telling the entire story here.

She has to take the driver improvement course because she is under 18. For any moving violation that a minor gets, he/she has to take the course.
