Reston Parkway Traffic Lights out of sync

Anyone else notice this. When you go south from Giant to beyond the beltway there are something like a dozen traffic lights bunched together. In the afternoons the traffic is really bad. It can take me 20-25 minutes go from from home depot to plaza america.

Part of this will be from people getting on the Toll Road, but alot seems to be from the lights being completely out of sync. So one will be green and the next red and so on.

Yep. Traffic lights around here are a disgrace. Synchronization is the exception, not the rule.

I think it's cause in the afternoon trffic flow would be for coming from the Toll Road (I think that's what you mean, not Beltway) towards North Point and not the other way around - so yr going against the pattern - that's why yr getting stuck like that.

Traffic lights? Sychronization? WTF? You are speaking of higher order mathematics, draped in symbolic language, only understood by a few of the best & brightest in the world, who somehow are able to comprehend the idea that one can calculate both time and distance, and express those as a ratio... a feat of quantum mathematics far beyond the capabilities of any in this region.

OTOH, folks in other parts of the country have figured it out, so maybe it's just VDOT being brain dead stupid. Your call.

If you're going from the North Point Giant, you're better off using the Wiehle Expressway just NE of the shopping center. You turn right onto Wiehle, go north all the way till Sunset Hills, and make a final right towards Whole Paycheck Plaza. It will be good until the subway comes and clogs all the traffic.
