Hillsborough Vineyards has a good tasting, from several different VA vineyards, and lovely view. Breaux vineyards has good wine and nice setting. Gray Ghost is a little further away, but good wine. Oasis is very good. Barboursville is beautiful, good wine, and a great place to have lunch. It was the home of one of Va's first Governors and the ruins of his home are still there. A nice place for a walk. We also like Naked Mountain Vineyards and loved their t-shirts, "Drink Naked".

Virginia vineyards are fun and they offer some very good wines. I hope you enjoy your visits.

If you don't mind the drive, Barboursville is really the best one to check out. Take a picnic or have lunch at their restaurant.

I just got an email from this group.

If you can wait one week and don't want to drive you might check out this bus trip to the Virigina Vintage Wine Fest- http://www.partydc.com/events_details.php?page=2&eid=82 They have 16 buses going right now.

It usually a group of singles and couples people between 25-40.

A new vineyard is opening tomorrow in Delaplane, VA. It is called Barrel Oak. It is suppose to have a lot of free festivities and has an ad online for a free wine tasting for two.

I think their direct website is www.barreloak.com

Forget going to a vinyard this weekend and instead go to the annual Vintage Virginia festival and try ALL the Virginia wineries in one place!

The festivals can be fun but the wines that they server are crap. You basically get drunk that day. Let me know if someone finds a decent va wine (if such a beast exists). All the ones I've tried have stunk. I'd be willing to spend up to 100.00 to find one.
