That go-kart is toast if it gets rear ended by a Mo-Ped. Dangerous. From
point of impact (from behind), how much space is there to the occupants
backs? Crunch time!

I've seen one or two of these recently and they make me nervous b/c they don't look safe enough--at all.

Designed and made by Benz.

Widely popular in Europe.

Just think - with one of these you could park head on in a parallel parking lane! I personally like the cabriolet - thought about getting a convertible one last year but decided against it...

There is a waiting period for these cars, about 2 years.

What's the big deal here? Car gets 40mpg and requires premium gas. My saturn does 35mpg and I can use crappy gas.

there's no chance of getting laid if you drive one of these...

my motorcycle has a bigger engine than this.... (1500cc vs 1000cc)

chances of survival in a crash are a whole lot better, vs a motor bike.

That car is hot! I'd date a guy who drives one over some guy who drives a motorcycle. Motorcycles suck in the rain.

It' funny that he took that picture at that particular intersectin, if you were to look at the right there is some overpriced luxury car dealership that usually has a few of those smart cars for sale. They never lock up their ferrari's or lambos at night either. If you want to seat in one come visit them at night

You can't rate the safety of a car on size. Some larger cars are actually very unsafe for a variety of reasons such a mass + energy = force. Also a heavier vehicle takes twice as long to stop braking.

The Smart Car has received some good crash ratings.

Here's some footage of the Smart Car safety tests- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju6t-yyoU8s

I have seen a very hot blonde girl(28-ish) driving a red SmartCar near
the Petco in Tysons Corner. In fact, I've seen her more than a few times...

If she's reading this, I just want to tell her that I think she's very HOT! :)
(oh.. and nice car, too... :) )

I thought I read somewhere that the SmartCar has a hybrid (or was it
all-electric) version now, but currently only available in Europe?

I walked around the Smart Car dealership in Tysons last week just for a few laughs. I didn't see anything about "80 mpg" though. In fact, I was surprised that the mileage was rated so low; about 30 something in the city, and 40 something on the highway. If I were going to buy such a tiny, ridiculous-looking car, I'd certainly expect better gas mileage.

I'm actually very intereted in getting a SmartCar for fun... (not to replace
my existing car)

However, I am a little worried that other people(well.... my friends, family,
and co-workers) will think that I'm gay... not that there's anything wrong
with being gay/lesbian... just that I'm not one, and dont' want to be mistaken
for one and then get a beating driving around Fairfax.... :( (made that
mistake when I drove around in my niece's light green New Beetle last year and
some stupid jerks threw soda bottles as I drove by, yelling f*gs out of our
parking lot!" :(
