It went out for 2 seconds and came back on when I said it did.

It is typically a recloser operation. It can be caused by many things. It is there to prevent larger outages. It could have been a tree limb in contact with a conductor or a squirrel being fried. It prevents faults from becoming outages.

Well, it was more like 10 minutes and it was probably due to the fact that there was a huge thunderstorm this morning, but you probably slept through it like a bitch.
