If there is a single winner of the Powerball tonight they will have, in Virginia, $200+ million AFTER tax.
That's a rather significant amount of cash.
If you have, say, 10 siblings you EASILY could do a couple different things - one, set up a trust fund with, say, $50 million and pay out to them a steady income from the interest on that, forever; when they and their spouses are all dead their share reverts back into the trust, ultimately going to your own heirs. Or you could make each one of them a partial winner right up front - that way it's no longer YOUR hassle after all is said and done - they just take their cash and walk; say $10 million EACH (after tax); each should be able to stretch that to a million/year income, plus or minus. And you would STILL have $100+ milion IN POST-TAX CASH to play with for yourself.
It's a lot of money...
So, no, it doesn't seem immoral to spread it around if you want, even very large amounts; doing it PREtax, however, avoids double taxation and THAT is a good thing.
