1. Are you guilty of the citation?

2. Do you already have negative points?

3. Will your auto insurance rates increase?

4. If yes, to any of the questions, a lawyer may help.

4. First, call the Clerk of the Court and ask your question.

Go the the Fairfax County General District Court and fill out a continuation request. They can be found at the Traffic Court Clerk's window. Once you fill it out, hand it to the clerk and they will submit it to a judge. Typically you call back within a day to see whether your continuance was granted. Almost a guarantee for first court date.

Or, you can appear in court on the day of trial and ask the judge for a continuance in person. You typically need a reason since the Commonwealth will be ready to proceed on this day. Any reason should be sufficient, like more time to get car calibrated, fixed, etc...

you can call them to get a continuance, rather than going to the clerks office...

and ya, first request is usually granted.. I always just say I have an exam that day (regardless of the time of year).. "always" being twice, and both times being a lie *grin*

How is that stupid? Are you serious? You actually came on to a message board and asked a retarded question. You could have simply called back the guy and said, "Sorry to bother you again sir, but the number you connected me to was not in service. Perhaps there is another number you can connect me to." Or, you could have scrolled up and seen the post concerning the continuation request next to the clerks window. 703-246-3764
