If you didn't like the JD show there are plenty of other stations on the radio. As such a long time fixture of the station, I hope that they had very good reasons for letting him go and that they do a proper send off.

Like many 107.3 listeners, I am very disappointed to hear that he will be leaving and really hope that this is just a false rumor.

He sounded like a complete douche on the air...a condescending disingenuous douche...and the fake forced laughter from his staff was embarrassing.

From what I understand, they despised him.

What shocked me was not that they kept him on the air, but that he actually had any ratings at all. House Fraus and morons apparently.

Jack Diamond Gone From Mix 107.3, Bert Weiss Likely Replacement - 4/26 - DCRTV got confirmation at about noon Friday that today's morning show was Jack Diamond's (right) last at Cumulus-owned hot adult contemporary WRQX, Mix 107.3. He's been at the station 24 years and we're told that his contract, which is up "soon," won't be renewed. Also, we are hearing rumblings that his replacement will be his former sidekick, Bert Weiss, who does a nationally syndicated morning radio show from Cumulus's contemporary hit Q100 in Atlanta. Cumulus will not make a formal announcement until next week, we're told. Diamond's show will be in vacation mode next week, with his replacement airing the following week. Mix 107.3 is looking for a younger female demo-skewing show that will better compete with top-rated Kane over on Clear Channel's contemporary hit Hot 99.5, WIHT, we hear. More: Diamond's presence was erased from Mix 107.3's website on Friday afternoon. More soon.....

That's a pretty amazing number since I dont know a single person who listens to terrestrial radio. It's either Sirius/XM or iPod/iPad. I will turn on WTOP now and then for local news or traffic.

I bet if they replaced Jack with the Greaseman that they would crush in the ratings. The Kane show is so lame, sport Junkies that act died along time ago, Elliot In the Morning, come on can DC101 every get back to the top, NO!!.

Greaseman would really rock the boat, and if PLAYED MUSIC IT WOULD BETTER THAN ANY OF THE OTHER LAME DUKS I HAVE LISTED.

Radio in DC needs a big wake up for.

Long overdue change. Things that I won't miss...

* Hearing about his wife and kids. Did you know that his daughter is married to a soldier?
* Ads for AT&T, No-No hair remover and whatever else he is shilling to enhance his paycheck.
* Jack-less shows 8-12 weeks per year hosted by the sidekicks while he is on vacation.
* Clueless sports commentary - Jack tries to sound like a guy's guy, but he is an over the top homer with ZERO knowledge of hockey, baseball or football.
* Did you know that Jack is in a band and that he is friends with members of Fleetwood Mac?
* "Expert" opinions on everything and anything...cameras, electronics, cars, whatever.

Feel free to add your own.

I would have liked him, except for one minor item - HE IS A COMPLETE DOUCHE...AND EVERYTHING THAT COMES OUT OF HIS MOUTH IS DOUCHIER THAN THE LAST THING THAT CAME OUT OF HIS MOUTH. That's right, his verbal douchy puke increases in douchiness exponentially. If the power of his douchiness could be harnessed, the world’s energy crisis would be solved.

Oh yeah, one other thing - the morons who like him and called in were generally so stupid that they need to read instructions to use the bathroom...each time, lest they start to shit before they remove their pants and sit down.

Yeah, that's you.

Jack Diamond Is Replaced By The Bert Show On WRQX
http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/117844/jack-diamond-is-replaced-by-the-bert-show-on-wrqx#ixzz2SAOpGCA6

Rumor becomes reality as CUMULUS Hot AC WRQX (MIX107.3)/WASHINGTON, D.C. is bringing aboard "THE BERT SHOW" hosted by BERT WEISS with co-hosts JEFF DAULER and KRISTIN KLINGSHIRN for mornings replacing JACK DIAMOND.
"I love D.C. It was great being on MIX with JACK DIAMOND and to think I would return to D.C. and take over mornings on the legendary MIX 107.3 is just awesome," WEISS said.

"Thank you to all who have listened to and participated on my show for the past 24 years! It has been an amazing privilege and honor to have spent over two decades back in my hometown. In every performer's career, there comes a time when a new stage or fresh piece of canvas with a new palette of colors calls your name. That time has come for me. I am very excited about the future! I'm also excited to see one of my protégés and partners, BERT WEISS, continue what I started here given BERT joined me on a couple occasions over those 24 years," DIAMOND said.

THE BERT SHOW will premiere on MIX 107.3 on MAY 16th.
CUMULUS co-COO JOHN DICKEY told ALL ACCESS, "JACK's ratings were lagging the station, some books by a considerable margin it was clear that the market had voted and it's time to chart a new path. BERT's experience in the market and his unparalleled ability to understand and connect with the core audience made this decision very easy."

"BERT WEISS is an iconic radio talent with roots here in WASHINGTON -- even meeting his wife here -- and we’re thrilled to make the ‘THE BERT SHOW’ available to radio listeners in the area," said Market Mgr. MARK O’BRIEN. "BERT’s relatable style, the quality of his guests and the topics he talks about are exactly the right fit for our listeners and advertisers."

Earlier this morning, DIAMOND posted on his FACEBOOK page, "I have NEVER been happier or more excited about the future and my career. It's SO good, I just had to share. xo"

It's refreshing to read from a normal, intelligent person like NOT A HOUSE FRAU amidst all of the moronic, clue-less imbiciles that run their mouth (read - fingers) without what little brains they might have being engaged.

To listen to "isndvpzsDNvpzdsndvk;zsdv" the only thing he/she knows about are douches and he/she JUST NOW learned to drop his/her pants before he/she shits (by the way "isndvpzsDNvpzdsndvk;zsdv", you can stop taking your pants all the way off to shit, just drop them - and also try to wait til you get into the bathroom next time.)

'Love Your Show Babe:' Jack Diamond Exits MIX 107.3 FM
After 20 years on WRQX, the station pulls the plug on popular morning radio program.
http://annandale.patch.com/articles/love-your-show-babe-jack-diamond-exits-mix-107-3-fm

For those who listen to Mix-107.3 FM, "Love your show babe," was the signature sign-off for morning show host Jack Diamond and it was also how listeners signed off when calling in to the show.

Loyal listeners may have noticed that Diamond was missing in the mornings the past two weeks, replaced temporarily by various hosts. But Diamond's not on vacation — he's off the station for good, according to the station.

Two weeks ago, the Washington DC radio station WRQX-FM, owned by Cumulus Media, deleted all references to the popular longtime radio host on its Web site and loyal listeners unknowingly heard the last morning show by Diamond after 22 years on the radio station.

"The Jack Diamond Morning Show" featured Diamond at the helm, running a show that included phone calls from listeners, sidekicks, traffic, news, Hollywood gossip, contests and Diamond often talking about his wife and children.

Diamond got his start in radio right out of high school at WINX, a Top 40 station in Rockville, now airing Spanish music as WLXE; he did a stint for two years in Fairfax at then-station WEEL, now WDCT, which now airs a Korean religious format.

After news about the show's demise on 107.3 began to leak out on April 26, the tweets came pouring in:

"Proud to call @JackDiamond a friend, and sorry the @JackDiamondShow is no more - A DC radio institution that lasted more than most shows."

"@jackdiamond Thanks for making mornings bearable. Please keep us updated on where you go next so we can tune in."

"@MIX1073 so sad not to turn on @JackDiamond - have to find new station."

"@MIX1073 Shame on you for turning on @JackDiamond. Listening to your station update sounds like you are going from class to trash. No Thanks"

"@JackDiamond I just found out that I lost the best part of my morning commute. Love your show babe!"

"@JackDiamond what happened? I can't handle my morning school drop off without you!"

On the Monday after his last show, the radio station issued a news release about the end of the show. Diamond is quoted in the release saying:

"Thank you to all who have listened to and participated on my show for the past 24 years! It has been an amazing privilege and honor to have spent over two decades back in my hometown. In every performer's career, there comes a time when a new stage or fresh piece of canvas with a new palette of colors calls your name. That time has come for me. I am very excited about the future! I'm also excited to see one of my protégés and partners, Bert Weiss, continue what I started here given Bert joined me on a couple occasions over those 24 years," Diamond said.

A new program featuring Weiss begins airing Monday.

No big loss here. Jack Diamond was a bore. His segments sucked, unless you're a woman. Junks are the only show in town. Elliot is the most annoying jackass on the radio. I'd even prefer ol' Jack to Elliot with his stupid fake hyena laugh.

There are many radio stations, so to those who didn't like the show, you had alternate options. To think you knew Jack Diamond so well that you can trash him when he is kicked out so unceremoniously after so many years would mean you either liked the show enough to listen or you don't know him.

No matter what the reasons, a man who devoted so many years of his life to the local community and a single station deserved a lot better, as did the listeners for such a transition.

I hope he pops up elsewhere and has good luck with his band. The radio station has made itself look very bad by not even issuing a statement. Erasing someone's name from a webpage doesn't erase his history.

Whether or not you like Jack Diamond and/or his show is irrelevant. The company's handling of this decision is completely drenched in poor taste and business practice. Perhaps JD saw the writing on the wall and that is OK....But, apparently, there were loyal listeners of all ages that deserved better....many will jump ship and there will be new listeners....Bert was great when he was in DC years ago...However, to treat JD, who was a force in the community for many years, like a non-existent or a ghost was a slap to the community....

I hate to break this to you, but that's how life works. Not trying to be a dick, but their ratings were dropping, thus of course the chances of charging premium rates for advertising. The radio business in DC, a major market is competitive beyond belief.

While I didn't like Jack Diamond and found him to be a complete phony in many respects, I do commend him for quite a run at the station. That's pretty impressive.

I was surprised to hear that Jack Diamond was given the ax, but I can't say that I'm too disappointed. Jack was rude to me publically on Facebook and then after I attacked back he had the entire exchange pulled. I wrote the station to ask for an apology for his initial nastiness, but no one bothered. Since then, I've not been a fan.

It was time for him and his show to go. About 8 years ago they had a pretty good crew, but every good one kept leaving. Ali and Brooke are just the worst, so it's not surprise that the show ended.

I'm giving Bert a try (I remember the Jack and Bert days). So far this morning they talked about "Empty Womb Syndrome" and about how much Bert's wift wants to do Mark Wahlberg. So far he doesn't seem too disgusting. Not like Elliot in the morning is. I'm ambivilent about Kane. He's a little coarse, but not an ass at least.

Chilli going to WASH FM. I didn't like Chilli either. There are a lot of stories out there that she's very condescending and nasty to people, publically and on the radio. But we'll see if Lou will set her straight.

And just no to Greaseman. I had to listen to him back in the day riding the bus to school. His shtick is the same old same old and pretty nasty. Does anyone remember what he said about Martin Luthor King day that got him suspended and then the whole week of Martin Luthor King Day off every year?

I was no fan of Jack Diamond. But his show was a simple and understandable proposition. He provided light hearted, upbeat fare for a female audience, and while it was both saccharin and phony, it did not invite you to take it seriously, so it served its purpose.

I switched off satellite today to listen to the Bert Show. It is unlistenable. I can't imagine what management was thinking. In one way or another the Bert Show seems to talk about sex, but in such a roundabout and self important way it is simply not worth the time.

Although I did not listen to 107.3 much because I have XM radio and prefer that, I would occasionally listen to Jack Diamond. It was ok. I do think he deserved better. It would not have hurt the radio station to do a better send off and it would have placated the fans that DO listen to the station. Why start off a new format with alienating the listeners.

I am not planning on listening to Bert. I tuned in once and it was awful.

I prefer XM. So many options and that makes it worth it.

If Greaseman came back, I would listen.

I listened to the new show because I was curious. Jack Diamond was a pompous windbag, and those women were really annoying. But this new guy is a real tool. Who records personal conversations with their kids and plays them on the air?

The other day he played a conversation that went something like this (I'm paraphrasing here):

Bert: Son, is there anything you'd like to talk about (intending to talk about sex).

Son: dad, was there ever a time when you and mom were close to splitting up.

Bert: Wow, son, that's a really good question. Well, a few years ago, your mom would get these really bad headaches called migraines. And she went to the doctor, who gave her medicine that made the migraines go away. But soon she was taking more of them, and more of them. It was what you would call an addiction.

Son: Wow, dad that's really bad.

Bert: Yeah, it was. And her prescription ran out, so she started sleeping with the doctor so he would write more. Soon, she was turning tricks in the Walmart parking lot to score a few percocet.

Son: Gee dad, how did you keep it together.

Bert: Well, we had this great son. And, I found out I really like men, anyways...

And on and on...

Hopefully, Greaseman is firing up the Good Ship Grease and will be sailing up soon.

It’s never a good idea to get rid of the “head act” and move up the “side-kicks”. That didn’t work for Don & Mike and it didn’t work for Batman and Robin. If they wanted to make a change, they should have just started over from scratch or left things alone.

I was so confused this morning when I heard these strange people on MIX 107.3. I thought maybe a different city's station was broadcasting, since that occasionally happens. When I got to work, I got on the MIX site and saw the new Bert show announcement. Wow, I am so disappointed. I was wondering what was going on the last few weeks, but I thought everyone was on vacation. I LOVED Jack Diamond and his crew and I am so upset that I won't be able to hear his voice in the morning. I was always sorry they had to play some music during his show because I loved listening to the banter on the show! I hope Jack gets hired by another DC station, so I can hear him again. I didn't care for the Bert people, and I remember Bert from way back when he was Jack's sidekick. I should have seen the writing on the wall when Jimmy left. I am a long-time MIX listener, but I will not be listening to it any more.

I couldn't agree more with everyone here. I was so disconcerted this morning and honestly I was just telling a friend of ment here at work about this and that I didn't enjoy the banter between the hosts one single bit. What a disappointment!! My 13 yo son and I always listen to the Jack Diamond show on the way to school in the morning. Todays' show was so inappropriate for young ears and the rant by one of the other personalities on the show was over the top. Needless to say we will be finding a new station for our morning listening. So sad to know that the Jack Diamond show is no more but hopefully another station will pick them up because I would definitely be listening.

I've been an "arbatrated 13" listener for 20 years. I was shocked when I didn't hear Jack on Mon(he usually announces when he's going to be away.) It terrible that Mix 107 felft compelled to to this to the best radio host that they have ever had the priviledge of having, this was a big mistake on Mix's part. I too will be listening to another station come Mon. I wish Jack,Aly,& Brooke,& Jimmy all the best I am sure they will continue to prosper however I can't say the same for Mix 107,big mistake guys !

Radio stations have a history of not letting their listeners know of impending changes to shows. Do they not realize we, the listener, are the customer? The stations, and conglomerates think the sponsors/advertisers are the customers, but that is so short sighted. I for one will not listen to 107.3 anymore. I probably won't listen to much commercial radio either. I'm switching to my own music and podcasts.

They’ll never allow the Greaseman back on the air around here, the NAACP would be all over 107.3, as for Don & Mike, that would be fantastic, but sadly they split up years ago and I’d doubt they’re going to get back together anytime soon.

Love Jack or no (there are douches everywhere in radio and tv), he made the morning commute bearable with contemporary adult chatter. Yes, sometimes he was long in the tooth, but at times we all are. 107.3 fumbled how to handle the end of an on air personality's contract, all for the bottom line -no doubt, but replaced it with morning team that has bollox below my 13 year old's mentality. What crap! Good-bye 107.3!

Bert tried to explain what happened with the Jack Diamond show this morning and it was very interesting. According to him, Jack's contract was up and the station decided they wanted to go with a different show. The station offered Jack a large amount of money to do a "handoff" with the Bert Show so listeners would not be left hanging. Jack turned them down so the station said he had done his last show.

Bert said he has a lot of professional respect and gratitude for Jack, but that they had an "unhealthy" relationship and he has only talked to Jack a couple of times since he left the Jack Diamond show 12 years ago. They aren't friends.

It sounds like Jack threw a temper tantrum and stomped off.

I listen to 107.3 off and on and I enjoyed Jack Diamond, but I wasn't a loyal listener. Half the time my radio is tuned to ESPN980 or some other station.

But, I will these things:

1. The station is in the wrong for not giving the show a farewell show. This is not for the show but for the listeners. To the loyal listeners this type of behavior is exactly what will draw listeners AWAY from 107.3. Stations have to handle this type of situation better.

2. I'm sure the real issue was Jack's contract was up and he wanted $X and the station said "We'll give you $X" and the numbers were too far apart. Business is business.

3. The new show feels like the slap stick comedy, something for kids in their 20s. The show may do okay but they need to realize this type of format already exists. There was a reason Jack Diamond was listened to because it filled a gap in need.

4. Personally, after listening to Bert for just one morning I won't be listening to him. He sounds like a guy stuck in college. If I met him in person I'd probably leave or slap him for his immature personality.

Jack Diamond was a huge asset to Mix 107.3 and made them a TON of money. They made a huge mistake by letting him go and replacing his show with one that is trashy, tasteless, and tacky. They bad mouth Jack and are extremely vulgar. Good for you Bert, you can snort shots of vodka. Jack is already on top and will continue to have revenge by living well and not succumbing to the drama and lies. He is 10 times the man Bert is and will constantly have the last laugh.

According to dcrtv.com Jack was offered "six figures" for a few weeks of transition shows and declined. While Bert may not be everyone's cup of tea, a change will be good. So tired of hearing about "yoga" and commercials for AT&T, NoNo and everything else that Jack chose to shill. Bert is not going to be everyone's taste, but I doubt that he will be missed.

Bert's explanation this morning about the change seemed honest and direct and you have to give him credit for taking the complaint calls more or less unfiltered.

I'm not crying any tears for Jack Diamond. He was frequently annoying and full of himself. Co-hosts laughed like ninnies at everything he said, which makes me think he was a demanding asshole to work for.

That said, the Bert Show is awful. Vulgar is okay if it's also good - legit funny - but Bert is all dumb stuff like fart jokes. I get that they want younger listeners, but I don't think the 20-somethings of DC are quite that dumb.

What Do You Think of the Jack Diamond Show Replacement 'The Bert Show'?
Radio station personality Bert Weiss has taken over the morning spot replacing the "Jack Diamond Morning Show" on 107.3 FM with "The Bert Show." Are you tuning in or tuning out?

http://fallschurch.patch.com/articles/who-s-a-fan-of-jack-diamond-replacement-the-bert-show

Morning radio talk show personality Jack Diamond’s departure from Mix-107.3 has sparked a flurry of forlorn followers, who have had plenty to say on Patch since his departure in late April.

“The Jack Diamond Morning Show” featured Diamond as well as listener phone calls, sidekicks, traffic and news reports, Hollywood gossip and of course Diamond’s insights about his wife and children.

Bert Weiss, who Diamond called a “protégé and partner” has taken over the morning show slot. The station replaced Diamond's program with the syndicated “The Bert Show” out of Atlanta. Weiss’ co-host is Kristin Klingshim along with co-host and executive producer Jeff Dauler.

Weiss is married with two boys and loves to travel.

To promote listenership, the new show is offering $1,000 reward cash to the first caller of three names that are announced at 7:10 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. beginning Tuesday.

What do you think of the new, syndicated show produced out of station Q100 in Atlanta?

Here’s what some Patch readers had to say:

“OMG! Jack Diamond was an institution for me…hate, hate, hate the new gossipy, sleezy (sic) sex talk on the show in mornings now” said Sharon Smith in comments posted on Patch.

“Great clean family show and quality guy,” said Steve, referring to Diamond.

“I have listened to the show with Bert for two mornings and will not listen anymore…I don’t care about rednecks, boobs or some fool and his issues with two women. Really? Who cares?,” said Cindy Steward Daversa.

Are there any fans of "The Bert Show" out there? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Don and Mike are not getting back together. Don's ego won't make this happen.

AMEN! I didnt know there were so many others that felt the same. I couldnt stomach to listen to his fake phoney voice. His team had to dislike him, no one stayed!

I love the new show and listen daily

I love Bert and the new show. I loved Bert back in the Q107 days. He was the only reason I listened. Never cared for Jack and his phoney fakeness.

Change is good. Give the new show a try.. you will laugh and enjoy your ride to work. I listen from 6am till I get home at night 5:00pm. I keep 107 on my dial on every radio.

GREAT JOB WRQX!! NOW I LOVE THE SHOW BABES

I am one of the "original 7 listeners" . Jack had kept the show fun, exciting, full of variety, compassionate, and genuine. This is not the way you treat a special show and certainly not after 24 devoted and successful years. Shame on you for going common and dumbing down the radio! Thank you Jack for touching many many lives over the years. I know you will continue to do so no matter what you choose.

Didn't care for phony Jack and don't care for fake tan, bleached teeth, dumb ass Burt. I find the Tommy show on 94.7 amusing sometimes and NPR for it's stories. Sometimes a little silence in the car is also a good thing.
