Robinson fell pretty far down on the challenge index (us news and world report) even lower than Lake Braddock, wtf?

Maybe it is just that Woodson and others have just gotten better or maybe Robinson was overrated all along. Maybe it isn't the students not performing but the administration not plotting a positive course. Guess they can take that big ol banner down sometime that they are the tops.

That challenge index favors schools that offer AP. Robinson offers IB. Robinson SAT scores are higher than LB and some of the other schools scoring higher on that list.

In generall I would say they are close enough. It really depends on your own kid forget the stats overall. Robinson seems perfectly fine. Maybe Woodson just got a smart batch and Robinson less smart batch this year.

I would say you could worry if the trend continues but far too much attention is paid to these year to year metrics.

Maybe it's the unfocused and inept leadership of the much heralded principal. Too busy polishing up his real estate sales presentation skills.

The "Challenge" index is a totally useless indicator of a school's performance. Based solely on number of tests taken - not number passed. Good commentary here:

Robinson has how many kids commit suicide in the last three years?

I guess they fail,to mention mental health into the picture.

PS I blame Jack Dale.

"We do not include any magnet or charter high school that draws such a high concentration of top students that its average SAT or ACT score exceeds the highest average for any normal-enrollment school in the country. This year, that meant such schools had to have an average SAT score below 2000 or an average ACT score below 29.3 to be included on the list."

So in other words this 'list' actually selects for schools with dumber students and excludes top performing students/schools.

"The Challenge Index is designed to identify schools that have done the best job in persuading average students to take college-level courses and tests. It does not work with schools that have no, or almost no, average students. We put those schools on our Public Elites list."

Maybe they should name the list 'schools that force the greatest number of students to take college tests' - thats all this is.

That is so accurate! Robinson was great many years ago and has been going downhill for the past 10+ years.

Not true, and Lake Braddock has higher SAT scores than Robinson.

Get Dan Meier out as principal and you might do better. When the principal is a dumb, get-rich-quick jock, it doesn't inspire kids to do well.
