SPRINGFIELD, Va. - A Virginia man has been charged with raping two women in a hotel room in Springfield. Police believe the two women used an online classifieds website to meet the man.
Once the women were in the room, they told police the man produced a gun and demanded that each of them have sex with the assailant. Then, they said, the gunman ordered the women to engage in a sex act with each other.
The incident happened on New Year's Day. A source familiar with the investigation says the women, who knew each other, made plans to meet for the first time with a 24-year-old man through the website, Backpage.com.
The encounter happened at the Extended Stay America hotel on Metropolitan Center Drive in an industrial section of Springfield, Va.
Police say the women are 18 and 25 years old. After the pair called police around 6 p.m. on January 1, responding officers arrested Joshua T. Franklin, 24, of Alabama Avenue in Woodbridge, Va. They recovered a gun from the suspect.
Franklin has been charged with two counts of forcible rape and two counts of armed robbery. He has been denied bond, and remains in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 5.
Hope you daughters where safe new year night.
