That is done by other people, not CERT. CERT not in the search and the rescue like that, more like USAR
Belle Haven and Huntington will flood and blame all their troubles on everyone but themselves..."Why didn't people tell us it was going to rain?"
Electricity will go out causing people to panic and cower in the fetal position because they can't charge their cell phones and iPads. How will they update their Facebook status??
Several people will have to be rescued from their cars because the fucktards wanted to go driving around to see the damage
The actual storm, 6. People in Fairfax County going into Level 3 pussification meltdown mode, 10.

+1 on Bell Haven and Huntington. Stupid fucks.
Good point on the 10 scale for human behavior around here.
FYI: the local Safeway and Giant are totally cleared of water.

I went to Giant just to get a gallon of water so I had some in the fridge to drink for the next day or so, and the entire aisle was clear.
Also saw a lot of people with overflowing shopping carts leaving the store. I guess they want to make sure their refrigerators are full when the power goes out so they can brag to their friends and coworkers that the power outage cost more money's worth of foods than them.
Also, wanted to get a handful of cremini mushrooms for the dish I planned on having for dinner. They picked all the mushrooms clean.
TP, Milk and Bread for snow, shrooms for hurricanes??? I just don't get these people around here.
The people in this area are nothing short of fucking simpletons. I made the mistake of going to the store for a slab of bacon. people are in full panic mode. Reason number # 125 why I hate this area..what the fuck is wrong with people around here?

So, Mr. CERT, what exactly will CERT do to help during the hurricane?
Schools closed Monday and Tuesday. Widespread panic among the television reporters. Several naps, interspersed with drives around Fairfax to see the two trees that fell. Great opportunity to catch up on Homeland.
Giant and Safeway both warehouse in Maryland. They are not shipping any persishable goods to stores due to the widespread electrical outages expected.
This follows suit with what we as wise locals should do. Do not buy persihable goods ahead of power issues. Sure, get water in case its time to boil due to contaminants; get shelf stable goods too. It wont kill anyone to eat from cans a few days rather than tempt fate with spoiled goods.
Panic as usual. The vast majority of people here have more than enough food/water for 3 days. Yet they go out and buy shitloads of food that will go bad, over nothing at all, than a rainstorm by the time it gets this far in land. I'm trying hard not to laugh, but thank you Sandy, for the economic pre storm boom :)

ALL NoVA Costco's are out of water. You people act like it's the end of the world and you'll never be able to a 48 pack of water ever again. By the way, hope those five pounds of frozen mozzarella sticks come in handy once we lose power. Derp.
ah shit, all the leaves on the trees will come down. no fall colors to distract from the shitty look of fairfax county these days
a 4. Lots of rain and wind maybe a downed tree or power line and some rich dude has a tree fall on him in great falls and miraculously vdot will find the money to cut down a lot of trees in overeaction and appease the 1%er's,
Comments on perishable food are on point...the bigger issue IMO is going to be how to cook what you have. I made sure to get an extra propane tank yesterday which will may help, but not ideal for everything. Also bought 4 bags of ice and they will go into the coolers if (when?) we lose power. If power is out for 12-18 hours I think that we will be OK with what is in chill chest, but after that not so sure and just happy that we don't have a lot of stuff in there.
Sadly, as with our snow storms, thousands will die whose only sin was not being able to get to the grocery store before stocks were depleted -- until the next shipment tomorrow. Theirs is a horrible fate. They die constipated (no toilet paper), calcium deficit (no milk), and starved (no bread).
