I has worked for walmart for over 1 year . I worked at the Walmart in Richmond highway near I495. I started working earning $10.40 an hour and starting next weeks I will start earring $11.00 dollars an hours but I will not be working full time they might cut my hours to 35 hours a week. Why do they think they need to do that? They are not slow they hired new people just last week.

You answered your own question, part time I imagine get no benefits full time do.

The higher the pay scale, the less hours you get. New hires can work more hours more cheaply.

There are 2 walmarts in Alexandria less than 5 minutes apart. I can't remember, is the one on richmond highway near 495 the black walmart or the white walmart?

any one who works at a deparment store or fast food is part of the problem...walmart is a job for kids and re tards

"40 hours" is a myth for full-time retail. Full-time guarantees 32, unless of course you are salary.

A Costco is being built right next to the Walmart further down Rt. 1, in the Hybla Valley area. I can't quite figure the logic of that, I'm definately not an expert though. The thing is, the traffic on Rt.1 is a mess now, so with yet another big store it will be ridiculous. I wonder what the Fairfax County planners were thinking, if they thing at all. I'm sure Gerry Hyland will laud this a great economic resource for the area.

There are two off richmond highway. You have the 'newer' one that is near North/South kings highway and Rt 1. This used to be a Builder's Square back in the day and maybe a K-Mart before that? That is pretty close to 495. This one would probably be considered the 'white' walmart. I assume this is the one the OP is talking about.

The other is past the hybla valley shopping center near Mount Vernon. Due to the proximity of Meadow woods that is likely where black people shop.
