am looking for any INFORMATION that anyone can give me on the Beating of my SON by a Fairfax County Police Office (name Withheld) April 7th, 2007 On Route 50 and Annandale Road at approx 1AM.
I am in Need of more Information and More Witnesses.
Several People have come forward and the more the Better.
There is No reason for FAIRFAX County to continue to get away with beating, Harrasing, Lying, and Stealing From the Citizens of this County.
There are good Cops and there are BAD cops. Time to Get rid of the Bad Cops before any other Citizens of Virginia Get hurt.

If we all get together and protest right in front of MASON DISTRICT maybe they will start looking into all the alligations of their so called police officers instead of Sticking up for each other.
Police Officers are suppose to help and Protect us not beat the SHIT Out of Citizens because they had a bad day or they have a badge.
What gives them the right to Not abide by Laws. Maybe its time to Redo the whole Force and get Honest officers in Fairfax County instead of ones that go out looking for trouble.

Fairfax county cops and especially city cops suck. There are a few good ones, but for the most part they are douche bags who got picked on it high school that are on a power trip. Im sorry your son got hurt. I dont doubt they treated him with disrespect.

The problem with the cops in Fairfax is the fact that they are all young and trying to look good in front of other cops. I always think it is funny to see 6 cops at a basic traffic stop. I am not surprised to hear that your son was beat and as citizens we need to police the police otherwise it could be someone else getting the beat down. Mason district and West Springfield are known for there beat some ass and ask question later.

Police do beat up kids. It's bad and it's sad. I don't know if it happens in Fairfax, but if it does, as Mary here is suggesting it does, then that's a bad thing.

I wonder if Fairfax has a Civilian Review Board. Usually, police departments are not very quick to address internal abuses. This is understandable, in a way, because they deal with a lot of criminals who are often quick to point out imaginary abuses in their own defense, and they inevitably develop a mentality where defending themselves is more important than addressing problems in a balanced way.

Unfortunately, Fairfax does not have a civilian review board. I think one ought to be set up. If a formal civilian review board is not realistic politically, at least there could be a committee of Fairfax residents who informally keep in touch with the police and the press. Not having any sort of institution to channel complaints about the police is really a problem.

I can't really help you directly, but I have a little practical advice: when you post to forums, and *especially* when you sent letters to the police, elected officials, or the like, try to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. It may not express your sense of urgency as well as ALL-CAPS does, but it comes across more politely, and gets more done.

Fairfax police are great. At least they don't take your wallet after they beat you up. In other cities/counties, crooks beat you up AND then take your wallet. There aren't enough police around to do the job.

Look at France, as an example. They have some kind of riot going on quite often, and nobody makes any money. but the government pretty much provides everything for everyone. Or at least that what i've heard :|

What's missing here is a statement of what the young man was dooing that merited the beating.

I know it has been a long time since the incident but I am reading this thread because I have been the victim of an incident by a particular state trooper in Fairfax and am looking to see what others have done when the police have acted outside of the law. Clearly they have no right to beat your child, regardless of whether he was innocent or guilty. PERIOD.

Most of the baboons on this website apparently never heard of due process being a Constitutional right or the principle of being innocent until proven guilty as fundamental to the American judicial system.

Punishing those under arrest is never the job or right of the police.

They need to be punished for that.

Write to the superintendent in Richmond about the officer who did this to your child at 'supt@vsp.virginia.gov' or 'BFO@vsp.virginia.gov' They will investigate the officer who did this.

It is in the police dept's general orders. It states that they can beat kids if it is apparent that parents are not capable of raising their children to function in society. When I was a kid if I came home and told my parents that the police beat me up, they would have said you deserved it and gave me another ass kicking. Since you don't give any details it leads the reader to beleive maybe he deserved it. I thought it made better sense if the police beat the parents asses.

Maybe if you wouldn't break the law, blame the officer who caught you and learn to spell, you would have a different attitude. Perhaps you should have payed attension in school instead planning your criminal activities. It's apparent that you also performed poorly in the criminal world.

It does not surprise me in the slightest that Fairax County's finest crossed a line and took their frustration out on a young citizen. You have to remember, these are guys (and a few women) who didn't have a broad range of career options. As far as I know, none of them graduated from Harvard, Yale or Princeton. They were mid-range high school graduates who went on to study at open admissions or lightly selective colleges. Remeber also that this is a job that pays $75,000 at the high end -- so these are people who come from the kind of working-class backgrounds that make this an attractive job for them. Thus, it is no surpprise that these are folks who are more adept at communicating with physical force than with careful thought and articulate verbal discourse. All of this being said, we need police protection in our county. I would love to see these guys reined in a bit and trained to use what few brains they have rather brawn to solve problems -- but I know this isn't that realistic until someone catches them on video acting like the bullying, low-life animals that many of them are and sues the shit out of the county and wins a multi-million dollar verdict against them. Only then will the county address the issues. For the moment, we can only hope that a few more of them each year get roughed up in the altercations they choose to start with citizens. Maybe a few black eyes or broken bones would also go a long way to teaching them to be civil. The only really good news is that most of us in Fairfax County don't have to have these animals as neighbors -- very few of them choose to live in Fairfax County -- they prefer to live in places with other undereducated blue-collar types. Maybe they're afraid that if their kids were exposed to too many educated people who look down on police work as a career, they would get the same level of respect at home that they get from the citizenry that they abuse.

Has anyone noticed that Mary is not even posting on this board anymore ever since she first posted the original message? Bunch of people are arguing back and forth over something that may have been nothing to begin with.

In every society, at every level, there is corruption. There are good people, and there are bad ones too. Many victims get lucky and get justice, while others just slip away into oblivion.

If Mary has a true case, she can go to a lawyer, put down all the facts on the table, and the lawyer would be able to open a criminal investigation.

Good cop, bad cop, they are all there. let's hope we don't cross paths with the bad ones. When we do meet the good ones, let them know how much you appreciate their honest work and their efforts at protecting citizens everyday.
If you happen to come across a bad one, maybe you can remind them how it makes the other cops look bad. If a bad cop cares for any of the other good cops, he will think about it twice before doing anything illegal again.

If these stories about cops abusing their "authority" weren't true, there wouldn't be so darn many of them. I'm glad I have enough political power to keep their pay and benefits as low as possible. It sure doesn't take much brain power to be a County cop.
