Interesting Vienna uses a major majority rule when voting on these developments. I believe fairfax city has more of a power problem instead with its legislature and senior staff. Most have been I power for 20 years or more.

I don't understand you people and not wanting to expand. It's same type of mentality why you all don't want to build more roads to relieve the traffic problem. Sometimes I wonder why the hell I moved here. God I miss Texas.

Please move back then.

It isn't that people don't want to expand. It is that people no longer buy into the concept that something is automatically better simply because it is bigger, newer or follows the latest trends.

Ever notice the commercial space vacancy rate in the City? Every stop to think why? Let me clue you in. It is because there are not enough people who live nearby who would shop there. As for office space, there is a general glut of it in the region. The city could solve both problems by encouraging commercial office building owners to convert or redevelop the now empty spaces into residences. Millennials and older residents would line up around the block to rent such space. The increase in commercial tax revenue would help keep residential real estate tax rates from skyrocketing. Unless something is done along these lines, you'll continue to pay much more in real estate taxes than necessary to fund all the great services we get in the City of Fairfax. As for all of you who want to keep that small town atmosphere, forget about it - move to Sheep Shit Montana for that.
