Edible Wild Berries in The City

Does anyone know if the black berries that grow on some of the trees in the city are edible? They look like regular blackberries but a little smaller. If they are can you provide a citation.

if they're on a tree (as opposed to a bush) I think they're Mulberries.
I could be wrong, just what someone told me once.

As far as being able to eat them, I wouldn't...but that's just me

I guess they are edible...still in question is if they're edible from the side of a city road

I know there used to be a lot a lot of wild blackberry and raspberry bushes in the area back in the mid 80's before the next big explosion of house building began. My neighbor used to pick them in the summer for eating. Thanks for the info!

I know the birds like to eat them, as evidenced by droppings on my deck. Haven't seen to many dead birds laying around.

We used to pick wild blackberries near World Gate (not sure which road they were off of). I doubt they're there anymore as this was probably 10 or 15 years ago. That's the only place I ever went locally.

I grew up in an area where mulberries are plentiful. They are edible,
but I dont care how wonderful some people may say they taste. IMHO,
they're not worth it. Have the trees in question been sprayed with
anything? If you do eat them, let them soak in water overnight in order
to wash out any bugs or larvae as they are usually full of them. Mulberries
may be a good "survival" food, but only if you're desperate. Too many of
them will also give you a case of diarrhea. If you have a tree near your
house, its best chopped down unless you want runny bird shit all over
everything.
