Night Train Dixieland

Summary: This song is a night train journey today to Crooked Road Mountain Festival to Bristol, TN, of a family, father, mother with children, starting somewhere in Pennsylvania, crossing the Susquehanna River, then across the Potomac, going through Fredericksburg, Petersburg & Richmond.

The journey sings a symbolic story, Virginia 1864-65 Civil War campaign. A determined forces of General Ulysses S. Grant moving across heartland of Virginia. Confederate Forces of Robert E. Lee striking back on every step forward, brother against brother. A new birth of freedom waiting in the wings for American nation at the end of this trial by fire at a terrible cost of life & destruction. Night Train Dixieland

Follow Up from NOVA Singers and Songwriters Group at the Fairfax City Library last Sunday.

Amazing Songwriting talents with guitar or digital piano accompanyment.

It was a dreary Sunday with rain mixed with snow falling but attendence was excellent.

A special note of thanks to talented Songwriter, Mike P. Ryan for organizing this meetup event with help from several others.

Next event will be two months from now, at same location. There is also another Songwriters Workshop in Arlington organized by another talented songwriter called "Songwriters Workshop" in Mid-April time frame, that I hope to attend.

Night Train Dixieland (Avi[s Poem turned into a Song Inspired by Longfellow who wrote Chrismas Bell in Chrismas, 1863, a turning point in the CiviL War.

I came from an intellectual family. Most were doctors, preachers, teachers, businessmen. My grandfather was a small businessman. His father was an abolitionist doctor, and his father was an immigrant from Germany.

Mosby's Rangers (Clawhammer Banjo)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q82fVemJCGM&hd=1

This is a talented "Clawhammer Banjo" Player and teacher. But what is needed to get this to this to appreciation mode is someone who can sing Civil War Songs & other heritage folk songs at "Open Mikes" like we have been having here in Fairfax via the "Singers & Songwriters" meetup.com and also the Music Workshop meetup.

"Grandpa Songs Open Mike Challange anyone ?

Next Open Mike Music Workshop event
has been scheduled at Wholefood at Vienna on Sunday, August 3, 6:00 PM.

Meetup is free. Don't have to buy anything. You can schedule to perform
if you are a folk singer. Or just come to listen, and appreciate while meeting
some of the incredible local music talents we have here in our own Vienna
neighborhood.
