Disgraceful Waste: Bob Malm Flushes $2 Million in Church Funds Down the Toilet on His Personal Residence
With people now considering their pledges for 2019, this is a good time to take another look at where Grace Episcopal Church’s resources go. In that regard, a disturbingly large percentage of its resources and income go to support Bob Malm, a feckless and indifferent priest if there ever was one.
The linked article (a repost) also looks at the expenses the church will be facing in the next few years, which are exorbitant, and for which no effort has been made to save. Yes, there is the trust fund, but the 4 percent it throws off annually will be nowhere close to adequate, particularly given the reduction in funds dedicated to maintenance and repairs for the physical plant.
Keep in mind that the write off of $100,000 that Bob Malm owed the church came in the same year, 2014, as church members gave more than $25,000 to help the Malms following Bob’s accident. While this was perfectly understandable, I see no reason to toss another $100,000 of the church’s money in Bob’s direction. This smacks of the antics of megachurch pastors, with their luxury homes, private schools, and lavish vacations—just like Bob’s annual month at the beach.
How many Grace parishioners work at jobs that give $100,000 bonuses, even when work is substandard? Or allow the employee to spend a month at the beach ever year?
